25 w pregnant - watery discharge?

I'm 25+5 and have been experiencing what I thought was watery discharge probably since around 12 weeks. Many women due around the same time as me (on a MN group and Facebook group I'm in) seemed to have had a similar thing so I was slightly reassured this is fairly normal and not leaking amniotic fluid.

This is still happening. I was reading older threads about it which said if it's amniotic fluid it is likely to smells like spunk or sweet(??). It's clear or white and liquidy, not every day, about enough to leave a wet patch on my underwear the size of two malteasers(!). On a panty liner it looks slightly yellow. If anything it smells like wee bit I didn't think I was leaking wee! 🙈

I have regular consultant appointments and scans since 10 weeks so also thinking they would have picked up if amniotic fluid levels were low? I have appointment with consultant tomorrow but for some reason feel more comfortable discussing this with my midwife whom I'm seeing next week...

This is second baby. In first pregnancy I remember getting a lot of discharge in third trimester but don't remember it being watery...

Maybe this thread should have had a "TMI" warning but then maybe implied by the title!

Hi OP, I'm 25+1 and twice in the past week I've had episodes where my knickers were soaked through with clear watery discharge. The first time I panicked a bit and called my MW. She asked me to put a fresh pad on and monitor it and if the pad was getting soaked in an hour or two she would send me to hospital to get it checked. I didn't get any more. A few days later the same thing happened - again it only lasted a short time and stopped so I've put it down to normal watery discharge (there's no smell to it, but the MW did say that if it was waters leaking it wouldn't necessarily smell either).

That's interesting @SamoyedFan123 I don't have it every day but most days. It hasn't been enough to soak a pad or anything though. I may mention it to consultant or next time I see midwife.

Watching out of interest as I’ve had same fir a couple of weeks. Just a small amount. Nearly 33 wks

physicskate · 29/03/2021 21:58

I'm now 39 weeks and go through several pairs of knickers/ panty liners a day.

During second trimester, I'd get it some days. Follow the midwife's advice, but this is very very normal.

Thanks @physicskate It does seem to be common from what I have read

@ElderMillennial I’m 22 weeks and I’ve had watery discharge on and off since about 12 weeks. I’ll have several day at a time where I don’t get any, and then I may get a small damp patch in my underwear a few days in a row. It’s only ever about the size of a 50p and seems to dry slightly cloudy but otherwise just looks like I might have peed myself a little 🤷🏻‍♀️ I asked my midwife and she said it’s normal. I’ve also had a swab @ to check for BV/Thrush and that was normal. I posted about it on here too and had lots of people replying saying they experienced the same. From what I can tell, it’s a normal pregnancy thing x

ElderMillennial · 29/03/2021 22:17

That sounds very similar to me @MintGreenLife x

This is all really reassuring. Thanks ladies. Just as you describe, I’m having a small wet patch about the size of a ten pence piece most days for about a month. I was wondering if my bladder was getting weaker (no smell though). So this is great to read.

It does seem like a lot of people are experiencing it @LittleTiger007
