Hi everyone ...
So this is my first month TTC after having the Copper Coil removed end of February.

I'm 30 years old and this will be my first pregnancy.

According to my tracker I ovulated 9 days ago. And myself and my partner were DBD plenty around the time.

I've tested today and am BFN. (I know it's early and I 100% will test again)

I have asked in a couple threads but want to get as much information as possible 😀

So I have questions ....

  1. How many cycles did it take you to conceive?
  2. Which are the best pregnancy tests to use ?
  3. Is there a better way to do a pregnancy test ?
  4. Has anyone had a BFN on day 9 and gone on to get a BFP later ?

Any other advice is welcome 🙏🏼 Daffodil

*not sure if it's relevant but I'm on a 27 day cycle, my periods are always regular, I've tracked my cycle for 5 years, and AF is due Saturday.
I've also had mild lower ab cramping, been really bloated and gassy, my sense of smell has been really heightened and I've been lightheaded for the past 2 days ish.

Hello and good luck on your journey. If you're after RELIABLE information i would look up natalie crawford md her youtube channel, podcast and instagram account are a gold mine of fertility knowledge. First of all of your cycles are regular you are ovulating! Don't waste your money on ovulation prediction kits, just dtd every second day in your fertile window and you'll get there. It took me 4 cycles first time (ended in missed miscarriage) and then 3 cycles the second time. Make it fun, don't go down google rabbit hole of google at this stage ;) testing early is a waste of money but i always do, it's just so cheap and available. I got my last positive 3 days before my due period. Sending baby dust your way x

@mia2201
Oooo I'll look her up now ! And thank you for replying 😌 and the advice.
We've said we are just going to be casual about it and it'll happen when it happens - but it's so hard to not get sucked in 😂

Hey, our TTC journey was really stressful. It took us 24 cycles to conceive. Got referred to a fertility clinic after 12 months, had failed IVF, then conceived naturally 2 months after that, now 15 weeks pregnant. I really hope your journey is easier than mine!

In the first year TTC I was incredibly stressed over it, would be distraught when my period arrived. After the clinic got involved I did relax a lot as it was out of my hands. I do regret getting so stressed in the early days and do wonder if it was impeding conceiving. I wouldn't bother testing unless my period was late as I don't see the point. Try not to symptom spot as PMS and pregnancy symptoms are identical. The month we conceived I felt no different and was fully expecting my period. Good luck xx

ohhisammi · 29/03/2021 16:29

@Rosieposy89 Congratulations 🥳
Wow what a wonderful story though ! Even though I'm sure it didn't feel that way going through it.

I'm trying my hardest 😂

I'm not really stressed about it at the moment but know as the months go on I would be.

Thank you for sharing ♥️

I'd probably recommend leaving off the OPKs and temping for the first three-ish cycles and just DTD every other day from when your period ends. Take it easy and enjoy it!

If nothing after three cycles, I'd recommend temping. It will help you get to know when you usually ovulate, is way less hassle and stress than OPKs, and also can identify some issues with fertility which can be really helpful if you do have problems.

I conceived my first on cycle 4, and my second on cycle 5. I'm early thirties.

Pregnancy tests... if you can manage it hold out until at least 14dpo. You're very likely to get an accurate result on that day, and avoid the heartbreak of chemical pregnancies. Testing early just causes stress and wastes money.
The only reason I can see for testing early is if you decide you actually want to know if you have a chemical pregnancy. This might be the case if you suspect this is happening a lot and this information would be useful for the doctors. But for me, I'd rather not get a positive test at 10dpo and then get my period three days later - I'd rather not get my hopes up.

Took us about 5 months to conceive no.1 although more cycles because at the time my cycles were 22-24 days long. Then took 4 months/4 cycles to concieve no.2. I never did any tests earlier than a week or so after when I would have expected to have my period arrive by. I just used cheapy strip tests. Think it's much less stressful to do this than be caught up in endless, pointless testing each month.

Hello!

I came off the pill and didn’t get my period for a year, until I was put on metformin (I have pcos) they then became regular and from that point it took 5 cycles for us to conceive. Sadly I miscarried at 9 weeks, worst time of my life.

After that miscarriage I also switched my folic acid to natural folate (methylfolate) and started taking myo inositol. I got pregnant again a few months later but sadly it was a chemical and I started bleeding pretty much straight after my BFP.

Two months after that I got pregnant again, and this time started taking 150mg aspirin. I’m also now on progesterone (since 6 weeks). Things seem to be going well so far although I haven’t had a scan yet, my dating scan is on Thursday so hoping it’ll be third time lucky 🍀

Good luck xx

Also we didn’t bother with ovulation kits - we just did it every day during my fertile window (according to my glow app) and every other day after that (and took a break while I was on my period!)

ohhisammi · 29/03/2021 20:28

Thank you so much for the advice ladies and for sharing ♥️
It's really helped

I did use ovulation kits but found I conceived the month that I never actually got a smiley on the clear blue pink sticks (wouldn’t waste your money on them) only took two months to conceive for me but didn’t get a BFP until the day of my period (also 27 day cycles 🥰) found the clear blue gave a very definite line so definitely recommended those xxx

Biooilandcarbs · 29/03/2021 21:14

I'm 32 and I had the copper coil removed on the 27th July 2020 and I fell pregnant by the 29th September and currently large and waddling with this first baby and counting down my final 14 weeks!

Fleetw00d · 30/03/2021 12:25

It took us 6 months after coming off the pill to conceive, the first month after coming off I was a few days late and tested positive (it was very faint) spoke the Dr the day after thinking how easy it had been and then the day after that came on my period and it had been a chemical pregnancy. I was very upset and immediately starting tracking all my ovulation dates and timing sex to the right days and did that for about 4 months. I then took a step back and realised all this anxiety was probably not helping matters so decided to delete all my apps and stop tracking everything, I knew that I generally ovulate around day 16 of my cycle but we would just have sex when we wanted and not to specifically hit the ovulation day. After about 2 months and around my second cycle of doing that I feel pregnant! Had an inkling that I was due to a sudden aversion to coffee the week before my period was due, but to avoid any upset from the first time I waited until I was 2 weeks late, the longest two weeks ever! But was well worth it because then once I got the BFP I knew I was already a couple of weeks pregnant, a few days later i did the week estimate and got a 2-3 week result and then a few days after that got a 3+ week result. At that point i felt ok with going to the doctor and not like I was doing anything too early like the first time. I'm now 5 days overdue so expecting any day now Smile

My advice to you would be to try and not focus on it too much as if your body is in a state of stress it's less likely to happen, watched pot never boils and all that! As you have a regular cycle your ovulation date will stay the same, although keeping an eye on your cervical mucus is a more reliable indicator as you don't always ovulate every cycle. Try and keep your mind busy on other things and just trust in the process, it can take perfectly healthy couples 12-18 months to conceive so try not to worry Smile
I would also say the clear blue digital tests are the best.
Throughout the ttc time period I took a ttc pre natal vitamin, and also added maca powder to my shakes (there's some research on this and Peruvian tribes swear by it). But just stay healthy and keep busy and it will happen Smile good luck!

Fleetw00d · 30/03/2021 12:26

I forgot to add, I would also advise anyone TTC not to test too early and just to wait until you're a couple of days late at least, had I done that the first time round I wouldn't have even known I had a chemical pregnancy and it wouldn't have added to my anxiety those first few months!

Cafeaulait27 · 01/04/2021 20:00

Hey guys, just thought I’d update and let you know I had my 12 week scan today and it went really well. Measuring a day ahead at 12+1, all looks physically normal and good heartbeat. We’re over the moon!

Can’t help but think that the aspirin, progesterone, metformin, methylfolate and myo-inositol all helped play a part in getting me to this stage xx

ohhisammi · 27/06/2021 17:24

Hi Everyone just wanted to update !

have questions ....

  1. How many cycles did it take you to conceive? 24Months.
  2. Which are the best pregnancy tests to use ? FRER early response.
  3. Is there a better way to do a pregnancy test ? I dip in a cup of urine
  4. Has anyone had a BFN on day 9 and gone on to get a BFP later ? I got my BFP at 14dpo and not before

I was trying for 2 years since my loss, I was tracking and timing everything. I was close to giving up, actually I think I kind of had...I stopped tracking and just pushed it to back of my mind, well as far back as I could. I then got my BFP in the day I was due my period.

Good luck to you. Im not 17 weeks and 2 days xx
