i’m getting a section tomorrow at 38+1 due to multiple reduced movements. i’ve been fine all day but now i’m panicking a bit, i’m scared the spinal is awful, i’m scared i’m sick, i’m scared baby isn’t okay and i can’t see her straight away. etc etc.

please tell me your section stories and make me feel better 🥲

Good luck OP! You might even have your baby by now 🥰 I had an emergency c section in 2019 and it was absolutely fine, I remember being very upset that the spinal wouldn’t work and I’d feel it and the anaesthetist did a great job at calming me down until they were able to say well they are in now and you didn’t feel that did you 😂 I had no trouble breastfeeding afterwards and was up and about 6 hours later shuffling along the ward! Discharged about 36 hours post section. I had no trouble healing, all I used to rinse mine was plain water.

just wanted to update!

had my section on monday morning, baby arrived at 11:16 and she is perfect!!

for anyone who sees this due to googling before their c-section my experience was great. spinal didn’t hurt and all i felt was a bit of pressure. the whole experience was just surreal and overwhelming, i almost couldn’t believe it when i saw my daughter over the screen 😂

recovery is going well too - still very sore but definitely getting better.

thanks to those who replied to this, it did help with my nerves! 💗

Great news, congratulations!

Congratulations.

Sadly mine failed and I ended up being converted to GA on the table. Was very traumatic.

@nina3638 congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I am pleased it went well. It is always daunting to have something unknown.

Look after yourself, by that I mean let everybody else do stuff for you and for the house. You are to rest and recover. You have had surgery and your body is recovering from being pregnant. I have had 2 c sections, one EMCS and one ELCS.

Inkpaperstars · 01/04/2021 13:18

I have a section booked for tomorrow and I am scared but this thread has helped so thanks for posting OP, and congrats!

Make sure you take all the painkillers you need. I've had three c sections and you'd think I'd have learned my lesson, but each time I've tried to do too much and cut down on the painkillers too soon and ended up feeling very sore.

Chelyanne · 01/04/2021 13:29

Congratulations!! Enjoy every second with your daughter, they're grown up before you know it.

Updating for anyone reading this thread in the future, to say my elcs went much more smoothly than I expected. The only bad bit was when they first started doing the anaesthetic and they advised it might make my chest feel numb or make me feel faint, clammy etc which it did for a minute and I thought it was going to be tough but then that passed really quickly. Never felt catheter go in, and wasn’t painful when removed either. Still sore of course, but in general I have been much more mobile than I thought I would be.
