Hi,

Please help

I'm 19 weeks pregnant

I'm on hold to EPU. I woke up about ten minute ago with the most excruciating burning pain in my right lower side. One patch, right lower stomach. Like a stinging and intense burning pain, doesn't fade. Becomes worse when touched. Hurts to walk.

It is as though someone has a lighter against that part of my stomach.

It's so tight and I've never felt anything like this.

Has anyone had this? I've taken paracetamol

No other symptoms, had what I assumed to be round ligament pains all day

Definitely get yourself checked out at the maternity unit OP!

Try not to worry, there's so many different pains you get throughout pregnancy that are normal but definitely better to be safe than sorry!

Hi,

I was told over the phone that it is likely nerve damage due to having a c-section almost 18 months ago. Baby must be growing or has leaned on the effected area.

As no waters broke, no temperature and no timely contractions there was no need to go in.

Stomach just feels very tight, achey and almost bruised today

I’m so sorry, sounds very painful. You need to call MAU not EPU since you are not early pregnancy anymore. Ask them if there’s anything you can do to relieve the pain- perhaps a bath?

crispychicken12 · 28/03/2021 09:01

@Greenbks they won't see me at MAU until I'm 20 weeks unfortunately

What?! Why? Isn’t it meant to be 16 weeks? Well at least where I am.

Ok just googled it and it seems to differ from hospital to hospital.

The least EPU can do is give you a scan to reassure you. I hope you’re feeling a little better?

crispychicken12 · 28/03/2021 09:14

@Greenbks unfortunately it's 20 weeks where I am, I've never had labour before (planned csection with my first DS) so when I felt tightenings I was petrified, but I'm sure it was really bad nerve pain. I'm just going to ask a midwife for some advice or how to treat it as it was agonising.

I'm less worried as it's faded now thankfully

I woke up at 20 weeks in so much pain I thought I was in labour . It was a urine infection and I could hardly move without what felt like very painful contractions. Keep an eye on it!

Turns out my csection scar from my DS1 is severely keloided, I knew this and was aware it would happen. Scar tissue inside my stomach is likely keloided too, which is causing the really bad burning sensation when the skin stretches

I've been told it will likely get worse and there's nothing they can do, they gave me codeine to manage the pain.

I have no advice but wanted to offer sympathy cos that sounds really grim. I'm sorry you're in pain!
