Does exercise help or worsen SPD?

Hello,
I'm nearly 27 weeks now, when I get up in the morning I have spd pain in my pelvis, after a few steps I'm okay. Last pregnancy I had very bad spd from around 30-36 weeks and then it lessened, so I'm starting to think it's going to be coming back soon 😩
Last pregnancy I still went to the gym and was much more active walking, this time I'm much more sedentary. Is it more beneficial to start exercising and walking more now or better to rest? Abit more worried with a very active toddler this time!
Did physio work for anyone? Thank you for any advice x

It depends on the type of exercise, some can aid pain and other make it much worse. It's not an ideal time to be taking up new forms either so if you do start out slow.

No physio done. I had it in my last 3 pregnancies and it got worse earlier each time, was excruciating with the twins. My husband is military and he was laid up with a broken leg from 26wk-day after birth with the twins. I didn't do any dedicated exercise but I did all the normal stuff as I had no choice but to do it.
After our twins my body was in bits, diastasis recti, unstable joints and just constant pain. I took up strength training when the twins were 2, I was also diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I spent years working hard in the gym, repaired all the damage and increased my strength which reduced my day to day pain to a very manageable level. This time the spd came in slowly, I find walking the dog can aggravate it s fair bit but I actually feel better after going in the gym. I do use wraps and straps in the gym to support my joints anyway so these keep things more stable when I lift. I am down to 50% of pre-pregnancy numbers on my squat but everything else is at around 70/75%, I'm 19+6wk now. Reduced sessions from 3 to 2 as I used to do paused reps but that's not recommended during pregnancy. I aim to continue gym sessions as close to birth as I can but will adjust it as my body shows signs of struggle.

19+4wk not 19+6, don't know why I put that

I had bad spd in my last 2 pregnancies I would definitely recommend paying private for a physio to correct alignment as long as its someone who had dealt with spd before or acupuncture was very good too made walking more bearably. If u have a yoga ball use it to relieve pressure on ur hips and swimming is good too
