Anyone's baby 'turned' from breech to normal after 34 weeks?

Hi everyone,

I'm 33 weeks +6 and my baby is still breech. My midwife says she has a hunch that because the baby has been breech for a while now, it's unlikely it will turn into the correct position and i'll most likely end up having a c-section.

Just wondered if anyone's baby turned from breech to normal after 34 weeks. Apparently I have low levels of amniotic fluid which is hindering it's 'movement'.

any info would be much appreciated!
thanks

My firends baby turned at 36 weeks after she had a really long walk. She wishes he hadn't as she ended up with an emergency cs anyway!

Yep, ds1 was like this. Just sat on my exercise ball all the time and a week or so later, he was head down.

meant to add that I was about 34 wks. 6 weeks is still along time for the lo to move. (but I'm no expert!)

Hi Ruby, My 2nd DD was breech from twenty odd weeks and wouldn't budge. I ended up with a section as I was a bit scared of an ECV.

However I know of 2 people that were in the same situation and their babies turned in the last couple of weeks.

Hope baby moves for you but if she doesn't you will be offered an ECV. If you don't want one then it is likely you will be offered a section. No one was willing to let me try a breech delivery and to be honest I didn't want to take the risks to the baby.

Good luck xx

yes, in about week 37. Happened to my friend too!

My ds turned at about 38 weeks. I am very slim/narrow and was initially told there wasn't enough room for him to turn - but he did!

Having said that he was very low, hanging down to my thighs almost.

hi ruby - mine was breech at 33 weeks I think, maybe 34 but has now turned and I am 35 weeks - I did lots of leaning forwards on all fours etc and I suddenly felt a big sort of squelch and I think that must have been it. Have you tried leaning forwards etc?

Thanks all, reassuring to hear - will make sure I do lots of walking and sitting on the ball and hopefully the baby will turn!

Hi, my first went breech at around 36 weeks, from being head down. Then went back again. Normal vaginal birth.

Once he was back to head down again I was very careful each time I got up from teh bed to get up really slowly and gently and use my hands to put a bit of pressure each side of my bump to keep him head down as I moved around.

In my second pregnancy I did this anyway from about 30 weeks to ensure my second stayed head down. Luckily I had a normal delivery for him too

Jean Sutton hs a great book about Optimal Foetal Positioning. Ask your midwife.

my dd was breech untill 38+4 i went for my final scan before cs (due 3days later) and she had turned and then she decided to stay put i ended up getting induced at 42 weeks had a 8 hour labour and natural birth, so there is pleanty of time left for your lo to turn yet.

Mine just turned at 37 weeks. Used moxabustion sticks (from chinese herbalist about £4 each) and reflexology to encourage turn. Happened in middle of night and felt like I was being pushed out to the sides. Ignore midwife and visualise head down baby. My reflexologist said that she has seen women go overdue and have their babies turn breech so it is possible to go to 42 weeks and for baby to turn. Sometimes they only turn in labour too. Good luck, stay super positive. PPS my bubba was still doing somersaults at 34 weeks and there was loads of room in there. It only starts to get tighter at 37

mine was head down all of the way then at around 34 weeks she went breech. I lay flat in a bath with my legs resting on the wall and that seemed to give her the room to flip back round. Theres still plenty of time!

I have a friend who went and saw a chiroprater (sorry bad spelling) and as her first pg had been breech and emergancy c section her second was aswell - she was told that the baby was breech as she herself was out off line. The chiropracter manipulated her and the baby did move around and she had a VBAC which she was delighted with.

Then she went back to have her back sorted after about three months.

I had an ecv at 37 weeks and it was fortunately quite a positive experience, and was successful too. The consultant was lovely and is apparently well known for his good bedside manner and his success at carrying out the procedure. I had an injection to relax the uterus, which made me feel like I had had a glass of wine. 20 minutes later the doctor carried it out; all it felt like was some firm stroking over my bump. He then shook hands with us and said very casually to look at the monitor (which was set up) to look at the baby now head down!
I know others that have had it and found it uncomfortable but sometimes it's nice to hear of postive experiences just so you get a balanced view.
