9dpo twins??

So I just got my BFP!! In major shock as first test I've taken this cycle and it's a blazing positive and came up straight away and I'm only 9dpo not due AF until Wednesday so still a week away. Could this mean twins/multiple pregnancy? Anyone had the same and did it result in twins? Thanks!! Xx

9dpo twins??

IT has absolutely nothing to do with being twins.

Helenknowsbest · 24/03/2021 17:37

I doubt it has anything to do with twins. I got a super early bfp with my son.

peach1234 · 24/03/2021 17:44

Thanks both Smile

But high levels of hcg have been linked to chromosome abnormalities so I’d recommend having the combined test or NIPTY.

ellesbellesxxx · 24/03/2021 17:49

My test with twins looked like this two days before I would have missed my period (ivf so guess it works out as 12dpo) however my friends was like this at the same time and she had one baby... congratulations on your bfp!

ivfbeenbusy · 24/03/2021 18:29

It's more likely that you miscalculated your ovulation date

I have twins and my line was much fainter at 9dpo - practically invisible

Rosieposy89 · 24/03/2021 18:30

I wouldn't say that looks like a very strong positive so wouldn't worry about twins. Congratulations x

SunnySideUp2020 · 24/03/2021 18:41

Looks like a normal line for 9 dpo!

SoWhyNot · 24/03/2021 18:43

@SunnySideUp2020

Looks like a normal line for 9 dpo!
I’ve been pregnant a lot of times and never had the control line lose most of its ink to the positive line at 9dpo before.
breadbinbaby · 24/03/2021 18:53

Are you mixing up the two lines? That’s a good positive but not hugely strong.

imalmostthere · 24/03/2021 18:55

Nothing to indicate twins, but congratulations 🥳

peach1234 · 24/03/2021 18:56

Thanks for responses, I never expected a BFP at 9dpo as my periods still a week away so guess was just a shock to see it and it's not even a squinter that's all. Not mixed up the lines no and was using ovulation tests (digital and strips) so pretty sure on ovulation day. Not worried about twins I'd love them but just wondered if there's more chance with an early positive Smile

I had my bfp at 8dpo, only one baby.
I knew my ovulation date due to using OvuSense monitor and ovulation tests.

I’d say that looks like what you’d expect for 9dpo.

Congrats

I had strong positives early on in both my pregnancies (is it pregnancy’s or pregnancies?!) and no twins but raging hyperemesis! Hyperemesis is associated with high HCG levels; and like a pp said the high levels made me higher risk for downs on the combined screening too, all was ok though. Don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but just keep an eye out and don’t shrug sickness off as ‘one of those things’ - massively fucked myself over the first time by being a matyr!

Notavegan · 24/03/2021 19:04

It's just a very sensitive test

peach1234 · 24/03/2021 19:04

@IHateThinkingUpANewUsername oh god, I was so sick with my first! 🙈 do they check your hcg levels when you have your blood tests with midwife then? I don't remember it ever being mentioned before x

RizzleRazzle · 24/03/2021 19:08

I think you've got the lines the wrong way round, the left line is the test line and right is the control line.

RizzleRazzle · 24/03/2021 19:08

That was to @SoWhyNot

Chelyanne · 24/03/2021 19:08

An early positive home test is not an indicator if multiples.
Strong symptoms are not an indicator either, I had a worse 1st trimester with current singleton girl than I did with my twin girls.

IHateThinkingUpANewUsername · 24/03/2021 19:09

HCG is one of the things they measure in your bloods when they do your combined screening at 12 weeks (if you opt for it).
They test the levels of HCG and Papp-a in your blood, measure the nuchal fold on the baby’s neck and use details like your age to decide if you are high risk for downs / edwards / pataus. If you are low risk then you just get told you are low risk, if you are high risk they will talk through all the results with you. So the reason I came back high risk the first time is because I had SKY high HCG levels and slightly low Papp-a levels, no structural issues seen with the baby.
Essentially, if you are low risk you won’t find out your hcg level. Smile

ScarfaceCwaw · 24/03/2021 19:10

That's a fairly faint positive. The line on the left is the test line.

Regardless, 9dpo is a bit early to be diagnosing yourself with a multiple pregnancy.

SoWhyNot · 24/03/2021 19:15

@RizzleRazzle

I think you've got the lines the wrong way round, the left line is the test line and right is the control line.
Oh, I see. I assumed the other way as the OP thought it was so strongly positive.
peach1234 · 24/03/2021 19:27

@ScarfaceCwaw not diagnosing myself just asking Smile

@IHateThinkingUpANewUsername thank you! Makes sense! X

Congratulations op but the line on the right is the control line if you look at the side that shows pregnant and not pregnant the not pregnant part has the line on the right so it must be. Still doesn't matter its a positive test :)
