Will a GP sign me off?

I am struggling with a myriad of problems, the main ones being severe morning sickness and now dizziness/lightheaded plus palpitations. I cannot work at home in any capacity and there isn't any option to reduce my working hours (although reducing days may work). I have explained several times to work how unwell I've been and have been unwell at work too. Still they keep asking when I am returning as I have taken the day off today to seek advice from the GP. Will a GP be able to sign me off so we can work on settling some of this?

Yes. A gp can sign you off. Obviously, they won't do so if you are fit to work though,

Have you been tested for anaemia?

Will that show on my booking in bloods? I've had those done.

If you're not fit to work of course GP can sign you off. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, it would tend to show on booking bloods.

Obviously, sounds like you need to speak to the gp!!

It's not hard to get signed off by the gp...you just need to ask them and they will do it.

Just ask the GP they don't usually make a. Fuss about it.

Your work sound like they are being very unhelpful

@May2021Mummy I think its the standard you are pregnant not ill idea with work. I've found people just think you feel a bit under the weather rather than glued to the bathroom all day and having trouble keeping enough fluids down.

Do your employers know you're pregnant? It might be worth letting them know as they should record pregnancy related sickness/absence separately from "normal" sickness, so it shouldn't trigger Bradford Scale reviews etc.
