Living in the US. Due to get mine Monday. Moving home to the U.K. in summer and just feel safer travelling vaccinated. How did you feel after having it?

They won’t give them to pregnant ladies here unless there’s a very very strong case, eg they’re high risk front line health worker in the NHS

Areallthegoodnamesgone · 24/03/2021 19:57

I’m in Ireland, I’ve had my first dose and a sore arm was my only symptom ☺️

Ritamarie85 · 24/03/2021 20:08

Yes it’s different here. They offer it to all pregnant people. And because we are travelling long haul I’ve been advised it makes me high risk to catching it so should consider taking it.

@Areallthegoodnamesgone can I ask how many weeks you are? Did you get Pfizer?

tikha · 24/03/2021 21:12

I work in Healthcare. Loads of pregnant colleagues have had it with no issues both pfizer and astra

Ritamarie85 · 24/03/2021 22:22

@tikha thank you.

Had it when I was about 3 weeks, had Astra Zeneca. No issues really, just a sore arm and banging headache.

Janxyb · 24/03/2021 22:53

I had my first vaccine before I was pregnant. Now I am pregnant and getting my 2nd one in 2 weeks - Pfizer. Had no side effects from the first so hoping the second will be the same 😊

Ritamarie85 · 25/03/2021 00:08

To everyone who has had it- have you worried much after? I don’t feel worried taking it but sometimes others people’s opinions start to give me a bit of fear

Areallthegoodnamesgone · 25/03/2021 16:19

@Ritamarie85 yes I had the Pfizer when I was 14 weeks

mummabubs · 25/03/2021 16:20

Two pfizer doses here, I'm 33 weeks pregnant. Had no side effects whatsoever :)

Ritamarie85 · 25/03/2021 16:32

@mummabubs thank you! Can I ask what weeks you took them?

OP posts:
mummabubs · 25/03/2021 17:09

Of course ☺️ First one I was 22 weeks, second one was 7 weeks later at 29. Offered them due to my job in the NHS working on wards.

I've been offered my vaccine and really don't know what to do.

If I wasn't pregnant I wouldn't hesitate to have it.

I've asked my gp who said it's my choice, the community midwife said the same.

Does anyone know if there is any research on the impact of unborn choice? That's my concern...

Haiyaa · 25/03/2021 17:18

@Missreginafalange do you mean because you are making a choice that may impact on the baby? Have you had the flu/whooping cough vaccines? Will you let your child have their childhood imms? Because to me it amounts to the same thing. As parents we make choices for our children all the time as they lack capacity to consent, makes no difference if they are inside or outside of the womb. If I’m way off the mark let me know.

No you are not wide of the mark. More if it would affect them in some way when they are born adversely? If that makes sense.

In my first pregnancy I had the flu jab and whooping cough and my 5 year old has had all his vaccinations... so not against vaccines and want to have the Covid one, I guess I've tried to read up on it and can't really see much to help guide my decision.

Amichelle84 · 25/03/2021 17:25

I haven't felt worried since I had it. I told my midwife in case they needed to know but she didn't seem bothered either.

HELLO WORLD

Teaandme · 26/03/2021 04:43

I am in the PNW. I had my first dose last week at 35 weeks, Pfizer. Second booked for when I am 38 weeks. I just felt extra tired for a day or two but that could just be being pregnant tbh! Slightly sore arm for a day. I was a little nervous but my midwives said we are five times more likely to end up in the ICU when pregnant and I am hopeful I might pass on antibodies to my baby.

I’m far more concerned about catching COVID while pregnant. Definitely going to get the vaccine.

No evidence to show it’s unsafe for pregnant women. The US is giving it out to women who are pregnant.

Bettybbbb · 26/03/2021 07:18

I had Pfizer at 22 weeks and was fine. Booked for my second in a couple of weeks. I am glad I have had it. There is some preliminary evidence from from a small
study in the USA that it’s safe and they’ve found antibodies in breast milk and umbilical cord blood which is great news. I can’t find the link now though sorry!

Ritamarie85 · 26/03/2021 12:34

Thanks for all your messages ladies. It’s definitely more common for pregnant women to take it here (in America), probably because it is offered to us all. I and spoke with 3 OBGYN’s last week, my own, a high risk one and my friend who works from a maternity hospital in Scotland. They were all encouraging me to take the vaccine. My friend in the U.K. thinks it’s will be available to all pregnant ladies as it is here in a few months.

Thanks for all your messages x

I’m due my second Pfizer vaccine tomorrow. I had the first dose and then fell pregnant. Did you have any side effects with the second dose as I have heard people becoming unwell after the second Pfizer dose.

Hi hun..did u have both doses during pregnancy.
Smokeymirror · 02/06/2021 00:39

Trying to conceive and will hold off on it until after the birth (all being well).

Clarkey86 · 02/06/2021 08:55

I’ve just had the first dose at 8 weeks pregnant.

For me, the confirmed research that covid in the third trimester increases risk of stillbirth, far outweighs the risk of the vaccine that many scientists and experts are comfortable with giving pregnant women.
