Extreme cramping post D&C

Just looking to find anyone whose experienced really horrendous cramps after a D&C?
I had the D&c on Friday for a MMC. All went well- I had no pain or discomfort all day Friday, minimal bleeding and basically no bleeding by Saturday and just some very mild and infrequent cramps. Barely noticeable.
Hit yesterday and started getting horrible, sharp and crippling pains- like trapped wind pains. They came every 10-20 mins and left me unable to stand and feeling sick. I got little sleep last night- paracetomal did nothing for them. Phoned docs today and they invited me in- gave me buscopan and said the procedure had triggered bowel spasms similar to IBS. Took 2 buscopan and within 45 mins the spasming pains had stopped. Brilliant.
Then midday suddenly I got the most horrendous cramping- it has stayed since, paracetomal hasn't touched it, I took 2 codeine and it made it bearable for about 1 hour. I also began to bleed red blood for the first time post procedure- not super heavily.
I was expecting to be back to work tomorrow as all the leaflets said 48 hours bed rest then most women are fine but there's no way I will make it in. I can barely stand with the cramps, they're making me feel sick and shivery and I'm having to breathe through them like labour contractions (I have one DC already)- they're lasting 1-2 minutes at a time, every 10 or so mins.
Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced similar? I am just so taken back by the pain and that it's started 72 hours after the procedure.

I didn't experience anything like this after a D&C, @Makingnumber2 - I think it's worth a call to 111. Moderate cramping is to be expected but this sounds awful. I'm so sorry it's been so tough for you Thanks

How are you today, @Makingnumber2? Did you ask for medical help? I hope you're okay Sad

Thanks for your replies @RedPandaFluff.
I didn't call 111 as I had spoken to Tommy's helpline earlier in day and she said things were only a concern if I was filling a sanitary towel in less than an hour so I thought I would just give things another hour and then ring. Dug out a hot water bottle from back of wardrobe and that helped a surprising amount- allowed me to actually lie down rather than be on all fours like I was labouring.
I managed to get some sleep with help of a hot water bottle and ibuprofen and paracetomal and the buscopan. Although was up 3-5am with my toddler who has hit a sleep regression- perfectly timed.
Bleeding is still 100% heavier than it was in first 48 hours (I had no bleeding basically initially) after the procedure and I've passed some large-ish clots and now cramps are very mild with painkillers so I think perhaps it was just the final clear out that was perhaps causing such bad pain.
I really think the leaflets should cover this is a possibility- not any of them mentioned any of what I've experienced. It's all: bleeding 1-2 weeks which gets lighter with time, after 48 hours you should be able to resume normal activities and you may also experience moderate period like cramps.
I might write some edit suggestions and send them in Wink.

That sounds grim, @Makingnumber2 - hopefully that's you through the worst of it now, and you'll have a straightforward recovery ahead. And as for your toddler, well, of COURSE a sleep regression kicks in Hmm

Hope you're okay emotionally too - MMCs are tough Thanks

Thanks @RedPandaFluff Smile
