Shaky and weak at 8 weeks pregnant?

Has anyone had this and is it normal? I don't remember this when I was pregnant with my son. But then again this time around, I am chasing after a toddler as well, so could be that.

If i stand up too fast or bend down to pick something up I feel dizzy. Legs feels like jelly on and off and I just feel generally faint and weak, anyone else experienced this? Normal or should I seek help?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure you are eating enough, especially good carbs. Could you be dehydrated? It would be worth mentioning to your midwife in case your blood glucose is too low.

I experienced this quite a bit in the early stages of my pregnancy. Just shaky and weak, I can remember attempting to run for a bus and nearly collapsed! Try drink a ton more of water, and as you said if you've got a toddler it's not going to be the easiest to rest up bless you. Try to take it easy, drink water, and talk to your GP or midwife 😊

Yes i had this, but wouldn't harm you to call a midwife or GP to check.... Take your vitamins and iron... Up your calorie intake to xx

Murtaghjames · 22/03/2021 10:40

Sounds like your iron could be low. Can you get your GP or midwife to check?

Vomadetroit · 22/03/2021 10:40

I had this at 8 weeks because I wasn’t eating enough

missrose0110 · 22/03/2021 10:47

Thank you everyone! I'm glad to hear it's normal (hopefully) I have my first midwives appointment on Friday so I'll mention it then. Until then I'll try to rest and drink more water, because admittedly I don't think I've been drinking enough 🙈 thanks for all the replies xxx

It might also be low blood pressure. I've had it it all the way through. Its grim. They can't do anything for it and its not dangerous to you or the baby just irritating. I read on non pregnancy threads on MN that salt helps. Stocked up on crisps and felt better for a while, BP was up a bit at last check. Stopped eating the crisps and now feeling pretty wobbly again! Might be a total coincidence ans definitely not medical advice but...

Agree with others though worth getting your levels checked (which they should do at booking app anyway) just in case its something treatable.

missrose0110 · 22/03/2021 10:51

@Muststopeating ooh I'll try that! Crisps might help, just reading your response has made my mouth water 😂😂 I'll give it a go and see if it helps. Thank you xxx

It really sounds like I felt when I was pregnant and had severe iron deficiency. My midwife told me my iron level was so low she couldn't understand how I was walking around!

MGee123 · 22/03/2021 10:52

It sounds like your blood sugar is low, or perhaps your BP. Try to eat little and often (every hour or so) and make sure you're drinking enough. I had to eat every 1.5 hours to keep myself feeling vaguely okay in the first trimester! Might be worth starting some over the counter iron tablets too. They won't do any harm 😃

Haha... i had the same thing when someone suggested it and wss desperate for some. Once I started feeling better I lost the craving. Read into that what you will.

Agree with others re. blood sugar though. I am a nightmare for fainting even when not pregnant if I don't eat enough and am constantly having to try and find little top ups here and there.
