Lost 5% body weight, should I contact midwife?

Hi,
So I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant. I’ve had sickness in the evenings. Only being sick once a day but feeling nauseous from 3PM until I go to bed. This often means that I’m sleeping from 7PM.
My appetite is so poor, and anything I try to eat in the afternoon makes me sick.

So I’ve been keeping an eye on my weight and I’ve now lost 5% of my body weight. Should I be contacting my midwife? Or as I’m 12 weeks should I wait it out and see if things start improving? I have had a scan and baby is measuring 3 days ahead, so no growth concerns. Just don’t want to waste the midwifes time if it’s not needed.

I would probably go through the gp rather than the midwife. They will be able to prescribe you anti nausea meds.

Hi, in my experience it's best to start with your GP. They will test your urine and check for ketones which is what the magic marker is for dehydration, if needed they'll send you to hospital. Have you had sickness meds? that will probably be the first bit if you haven't yet but don't play it down, if you're not eating and drinking enough it's not ideal for you.

I got taken seriously quite quickly and was admitted to hospital the following week so the doctors will do something! As long as giving you all the spiel about ginger biscuits Confused I hope you feel better soon but I would def start with your GP x

Go to your GP. Sounds similar to me at the beginning of my pregnancy. The GP was great and also checked up on me a few days later. I ended up getting signed off due to the amount of sickness.

Just remember the midwife is there for you as well as baby, like others have suggested I would speak to midwife/gp. Its best to make sure your dehydration is checked etc, I started losing weight rapidly around the same time the high level of ketones were detected in me. Please don't suffer by waiting to get to 12 weeks, make an appointment with your gp. :)
