Hi, I don't think this is anything serious to worry about but I think best to see if anyone else has experience of this?

I'm 22 weeks and baby is lying transverse, which is slightly uncomfortable but fine. Placenta is low so not sure if baby actually has room to move. Nearly all movements so far have been on the left side where her feet are.

Since about 7pm today she has not stopped moving. I'm feeling constant wriggles and what feels like punches in the direction of my cervix. I'm also having some tummy pains and feeling nauseous. I'm not sure if the two are related or maybe it's something I ate and a massive coincidence?!

Normally I feel the odd wriggle but not constant movement and certainly not for hours. I wonder what's going on in there Confused

@GreenSlide I’m 21 weeks and yesterday my baby had a super active day. I felt him throughout the day on and off, I must have had at least 100-odd kicks, where on a normal day I might get 20-30. I have an anterior placenta so I don’t tend to feel the little wriggles, just the kicks. I can’t comment on the pain, but like I said yesterday he was super active, and today just back to normal x

Thank you for replying, maybe these bursts of activity are baby starting to get bigger and more active. I'm feeling ok today, not sure if baby was turning as no kicks this morning yet but hopefully just one of those things!

Any change in movement pattern is a reason to phone triage generally. Although I'm not sure when that starts - never sure if it's 20+ weeks or 24+ weeks.

@GreenSlide a friend of mine felt with her baby she would have ‘growing’ days where she was more quiet than usual, obviously that’s not a fact or a known thing, just how she felt. I’ve had days where I’ve worried about how quiet he is, and then next day he’s back to his usual self, and some day’s really active. I mentioned to my midwife at an 18 week appointment that I had some days when I didn’t even feel him (as I did at this stage) and she said completely normal. If you’re worried though phone triage or midwife, but so far in my experience he has more active day’s and more quiet days x

I actually ended up at the maternity unit with this exact thing last week. I'm 23 weeks.

I have a subamniotic hematoma which is a bleed inside the sac and looks to have been caused by a slight tear in the umbillical cord. It is also exceptionally rare, almost never seen during pregnancy and none of the midwives I've spoken to have ever seen one before. It was picked up at the 20 weeks scan and noone can tell me anything until next scan in 10 days time. So I've been a bit on edge.

I called triage because from 17 weeks I've had a very distinct pattern of movements. The night before the baby had been going mad and I said to DH 'baby is getting stronger, that must be a good sign'. When the baby was still going mad the next morning i got worried. I called triage hoping they'd talk me down but they did ask me to come in. I think perhaps this is really because no one is very sure what they are dealing with and because increased movements (in very rare circumstances) can be a sign of cord issues, which obviously is a risk for me.

Anyway, heartbeat was exactly where it should be. Baby has calmed down a bit since in terms of frequency but I'd say stronger movements again. (I had my standard midwife check on Friday and she couldn't get a measure of heartbeat because the baby kept kicking the doppler off).

I have a very wiggly baby (12 week scan took an hour because it was so tricky to get measurements) but I think the baby must have moved back to back with hands/feet out and that is why I am feeling things even more. The other day I even felt a hand or foot sticking out!

Sorry... long ramble, but I know lots of people will pop up and talk about any change in movements regarding triage, which is valid. But wanted to give a positive news story so you aren't terrified all the way to hospital if you do call triage and are told to go in (though I suspect you won't be).
