Can anybody help... I am 28 weeks with second baby. Am now on night five of lying awake for nearly three hours.
I fall asleep pretty easily but as soon as I wake up for toilet that's me.
I have tried getting up for twenty mins and having a snack, tried lying in bed but nothing working. Finding it hard as have a three year old who is up at 7am.
Not tonight but I'm not looking at phone as aware that doesn't help.
Just want to sleep😩

Hey @Katytwinkle I've been awake for an hour too, coming up to 27 weeks. Take it easy and nap during the day if you can at all, luckily it's the weekend!

I had my 2nd baby yesterday but this was me my entire pregnancy. What I found helped me drift back off was background noise, so I plugged in my headphones and put some calming music on which usually worked eventually. I know you won't want to hear this, but sadly for lots of us this is just part and parcel of pregnancy. Don't get annoyed about it, just accept that you won't be sleeping as well as usual for a while, and I used to try and nap when my toddler napped.

Same! 28 weeks too and been awake since 4. i wake up for a pee and a drink and just can’t get back to sleep. I end up on my phone which makes it worse but otherwise I just toss and turn and end up feeling so frustrated. Hope you find something that helps x

Katytwinkle · 20/03/2021 06:51

Aww ladies, glad it's not just me. That's me up for the day now as my wee one doesn't nap and I haven't sent her back to nursery yet due to Covid. Will give the background noise a try, thanks. X

Same. I'm only 24 weeks but this has been the case from 6/7weeks. First sickness now just "awake". I downloaded the calm app because I have difficulty falling asleep (the rain sounds are good) I've also (please don't judge!) asked the last couple weeks that hubby sleeps in the spare room. Which has helped with the guilt of waking him 50 times a night.
You're on the home stretch! Good luck. Xxx

I could have wrote this post myself.... 28 weeks and been wide awake since 2.30! Obviously it’s total crap we are all in the same boat but it’s also comforting to know I’m not the only one! X

Katytwinkle · 20/03/2021 08:32

I'm already in spare room as husband snores like a train! At least I'll not be the only one meeting my new baba in a haze of exhaustion 😂
Hadn't heard of that app I'll have a look.x

Same here. I’ve not slept through the night since I found out I was pg - 22 weeks now. Usually wake up about an hour after going to sleep, to go to the loo again. Then again in the night, then toss and turn til the morning. It’s exhausting. Trying to accept this is how it’s going to be until July.

Yep... I'm the same. 28+5 and sleep is difficult. More often than not its waking in the middle of the night for a wee (whenever I lie down I immediately need a wee, so I can only assume baby is really pressing on my bladder) multiple times and taking an hour+ to get back to sleep. If I haven't dropped back off after 30-40mins I tend to pop the tv on quietly and that seems to help. I almost find lying there waiting for sleep is too much pressure and stress, and by turning on the tv and almost accepting that 'ok I'm up now, let's not fight it' my body relaxes and I drift off much easier. If I don't, well... at least I'm not stressed out or bored lying in the dark.

Are you finding sleep positions uncomfortable now too? I've got a pregnancy pillow which helps but its a cure. This became worse and worse with my first baby, so I'm expecting the same this time around.

DH has been in the spare room since v early on when I was nauseus all night. Now that sleep is difficult I've said he needs to stay in spare room until I can reliably sleep better!

I'm exactly the same 28 +5. I'm much comfier (not sure for how long) than first pregnancy as I bought a decent pregnancy pillow which I now can't do without. I have started to get up and come downstairs as like you said it's easier to give in. I have also really tried to cut down on sugar the past few days so here's hoping that makes a difference. We can only hope it gets better!x

Hi, I had this when pregnant with my first. It’s horrible.

I found Lush sleepy cream helped me and also spraying lavender on my pillow. Whether this helped or I just felt calmer because I had done ‘something’, I have no idea.

I tried listening to ocean sounds as well. I found it irritating but my friend swears by it!

Same, I’m 20wks and only getting 3-6hrs each night. So exhausted! I just can’t get comfy/stay comfy for long and also have asthma which is starting to play up more. If it’s like this at 20 what will it be like in 3rd trimester 🙈
