4th miscarriage in a row confirmed today

Title says it all....my 4th miscarriage was confirmed today and I am truly so heartbroken.

I found out I was pregnant on feb 6th, I had a scan at 5+4 (from LMP) as had left sided pain so my doctor referred me to the EPU. They saw an empty sac and I was told not to worry and come back the following week, I did, empty sac again but it had grown, told to come back the week after, again sac grown and had a yolk sac. Was told to wait 2 weeks. Today that 2 weeks was up, I hadn't been bleeding or in any pain prior to this scan. I went to the toilet to empty my bladder and low and behold, there was blood on my panty liner. There was my answer even before the scan.

She was doing the scan and the silence is torture, she looked at me and I just knew the words she was about to say "I'm so sorry" and there is my 4th miscarriage confirmed.

I've chosen the medical route and I start that on Monday where I will get the tablets and take them at home.

All my other miscarriages have been natural, but has anyone did the medical route and how was it for you? I've contacted my doctor to get a sick note for work so I can just take time off for myself mentally and psychically.

I am also under my hospitals recurrent miscarriage clinic. I was in 400mg twice daily progesterone pessaries, 150mg aspirin and 5mg folic acid. All the tests they did on me have come back clear and fine. So I don't have any answers as to why this keeps happening. A journey I need to take

Sorry for what your are going through @MollySxx Thanks

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this again.

I had medical management for MMC in October. I had the tablets inserted rather than take them orally in the morning and everything started within a few hours. There were a couple of hours were the pain was intense & I went really hot but It was all over by that night - I knew when I had passed the sac as the pain went away almost instantly and then I had a heavy period for 2 weeks.

I was wfh but took a few days off to process everything.

I did read in the leaflets they gave me that it was either oral or pessaries. Which is fine, I have no preference. It's just so sad.

I feel reassured reading how it went for you. I remember my miscarriage in April last year was very much like that when I passed the sac. The cramps and pain leading up to it coming out was so intense.

My boss is a bit of a prick, so just want a doctors note to back myself up a bit

Hi @MollySxx

I'm so so sorry this is happening to you. I understand how heartbreaking it is.

I had medical management last year. Midwife inserted the pessaries and within a couple of hours I had light bleeding. About 4 hours later I started to have mini contractions - it felt like early labour. I had the urge to dash to the loo and as I did I passed the sac and some clots. I continued to bleed.

Sadly I had significant retained products and was told not to bother retaking the medical management so I had an MVA. I hope it will be more successful for you.

I only needed to take a couple of painkillers the hospital prescribed and didn't need the anti sickness pills.

I felt a bit traumatised that I lost the baby down the loo. If I did it again I would have a sieve on hand - appreciate that may not be for everyone though. You would need to catch it if you wanted to have it tested though.

I'm sorry op. Sending lots of love x

@treesall yes, I'm going to catch the remains of the pregnancy when I pass them. Already agreed with the hospital that when it happens I will put it in a tub (so weird putting my would of been child in a lunch box🤦🏼‍♀️) and the hospital will test what they can
