Advice

My period is 14 days late and this is my pregnancy test today. I’m guessing something would have shown by now if I was pregnant? With my first, I didn’t find out until around 7 weeks.

I’ve been having several symptoms such as nausea, tiredness, heavy and tender boobs and light cramping.

Booked in for a blood test on Wednesday with the doctor... I guess it’s a waiting game until then 😊

Has anyone had a couple of negatives before a positive?

Are you on contraception? Do you know the date you ovulated?

In the middle of TTC I had a random cycle that was 80+ days long, when I'd not ovulated and my hormone levels hadn't risen enough without ovulation to cause an annovulatory period. The advice from the GP was to test every week until I got a positive test or my period.

Sometimes your body just doesn't ovulate for a cycle (completely normal!), Often this can still cause a period to happen but sometimes it results in no period until your body does eventually next ovulate. It can happen even in people who have textbook regular periods.

I hope you get an answer either way soon!

Hey @PlanBea! Thank you for reaching out.

I’m not on contraception and ovulated about the 17th of February! Do you think it’s still too early to pick up?

Thank you for letting me know about your experience, it’s really interesting to hear from other women in these situations. I hope you’re doing ok and I may possibly be going through the same!

I recon I’ll hold off now until Wednesday, the doctors should be able to confirm what’s happening.

Take care xx

Did you use an OPK? This measures the surge in lutenising hormones which usually happens just before ovulation, sometimes there's a surge and no egg is released. There can sometimes be 2 or 3 surges in a period before you actually ovulate. Temperature monitoring is a more reliable way to track as it confirms once ovulation has happened.

If you had ovulated on 17/2 you should definitely be seeing a positive or a period by now which is why I'm thinking it might have been a surge. Fingers crossed for some good news though!
