Just thought I’d start a little thread for those of us trying to stay active in pregnancy! I’m 28 weeks and usually go to the gym 2-3 times a week but in lockdown(S) this past year have started up running again and really enjoying my runs now. I’m doing 3-3.5k 2 or 3 times a week. My pace has naturally dropped by 1min/ k slower so currently at about 6.20-6.20min per K. Hoping to keep it going as long as poss. Would love to hear from any other runners/ or what fitness you’re doing!

Hello! I'm 18 weeks. I stopped running completely from about 6-12 weeks as I was floored with fatigue! Before that I was doing 4/5 runs per week, up to 40ish miles.

I'm now going out 3/4 times per week for 3-4 miles.

It's definitely a lot tougher, but I plan to keep going for as long as I can. Looking forward to waddling round parkrun when it returns in June.

Also trying to do one longer walk each week and the occasional you tube workout.

Well done for keeping up the running! I get too uncomfortable after about 3-4 months (and too tired in the first trimester...).

Been cycling until a week ago though, when i was about 35 weeks. Just 9 km to pick up DD from the childminder, but a fair bit of up and down along the route and pulling a trailer behind me meant i got a decent workout about 4 times a week. I think it really helped. Bump feels quite sqashed niw unfortunately, so have shifted to walking part of the way.

Hi ladies!

Andthenanothercupoftea your running distances are seriously impressive!! Have you done a marathon before?

DoubleHelix79 so the due date finish line is so close for you now! I also couldn’t run first trimester as too knackered/ nauseous but started up around 18 weeks at first just over 2k but feel pleased I’ve - so far- been able to keep it up to offset all the beige food I’m getting through.... 😬 Your cycling sounds great for fitness - really great you’ve been able to do this up to now. How are you feeling now?

I only run when I have to lol.

I walk the dog which aggravates my spd/pgp and gives me a bit of a limp for the evening. I also powerlift in the gym twice a week, had to reduce the weight I use but still doing 50-80% of the weight I was doing pre-pregnancy at 18wk. Will continue this for as long as my body allows. People keep presuming that I have to stop lifting, I've been training for over 3.5 years so perfectly safe for me to continue.

I was exercising 5x a week before I fell pregnant to get fitter and lose weight. I have been using a treadmill for the past few weeks but now the weather is getting nicer hope to go out running again. I don't feel I am overexerting myself but enough to be slightly out of breath. Has anyone who runs noticed a heavy feeling down below once you stop? I feel fine when I am actually running it is just afterwards. I will sit down and rest a little before I jump in the shower but it happens more often than not. Should mention that I run nowhere near as fast as you op just at the level before I fell pregnant.

ah you are doing amazingly @DollyParton2! really hope when get to your stage am still running!
nearly 16wks and had been doing 6 days a week but dropped one a week as needing more recovery time. Pace got a lot slower v soon after found out was pregnant - did yours? it's definitely not related to having a big bump - just felt insanely tough really early, so not sure what gonna do once have got a big bump! will u go back to gym when it reopens?
its taken a while but got out the mindset of just pushing through so now if need to walk up a hill, then i do!
Trying to make sure do some strenght and conditioning as started getting niggles creeping in!

Yep, nearly 20 weeks with DC2 and so glad to have invested in a home gym for the garage at the start of the very first lockdown. I’m managing to weight train 3x a week, just listening to my body and reducing the load when I feel I need to. Dog walks are my only cardio though, but it’s an hour every day.
With my last pregnancy I was in the gym deadlifting the day before I gave birth and I had a very straightforward and fast labour which I do partially credit (I know genes and luck also play a part!) to staying so active so I’m hoping for the same this time round.
