Low lying placenta and bleeding (Teacher too?)

So I ended up in triage today after another bleed.

I bled 7-9 weeks (no obvious cause, left to get on with it)

9 days ago (15 weeks) I ended up in A&E due to a large red gush going down my legs. They ran bloods said I was okay and sent me home. Managed to get Midwife to check HB the day after.

Today (16+2) another bleed (but not as big as last week). Rang triage who called me in. Obstetrician scanned me and said my cervix was low lying and she thought she could see evidence of bleeding which would explain what I’d experienced (was a portable scanner so not the best quality). She said they will look closely at 20 week scan.

She said avoid sex (easy!) and mentioned I may want to have a rest, but whilst ensuring I’m still moving so as to avoid clots. And to ring to come back to triage at the sight of any red blood. I’m a teacher so none of that is easy. I can’t reduce stress or ‘take it easy’ in school, and it’s really not easy to leave at a moments notice (secondary).

Is the fact that I’ve bled from it a few times already a sign that I need to rest? Does rest reduce chances of bleeding? I’d still be up and about (have a 1yo) but that’s nothing compared to a full school day. All I’ve read is bleeding occurs in the 3rd trimester, so could it get worse?

I also had a letter saying my Papp a is low, are the two linked or just a fluke?

I have a consultants appointment on April 1st (due to preexisting conditions), I’m just worrying about what to tell school and what I need/don’t need to do to keep baby and I safe. Don’t want to overreact if it’s not needed, but don’t want to go business as usual if it’s potentially not going to help or keep us safe. My LB was an easier pregnancy so it’s all feeling quite overwhelming.

Sorry for the long post! Any experiences or information is welcome.

If they've told you to rest, you should be able to get a sick note from the doctors.
Yes, resting will usually stop the bleeds or at least make them less common. As long as you're not doing too much with your 1 year old and sitting down as much as you can

Tbh I would be contacting the GP and getting them to sign you off on sick. If you can't avoid stress etc at work you really need to take a break until things settle down and you've had some clearer answers from the consultants. Good luck
