Scan - Baby small; no growth?

Hi!
Have had all my scans; went for a 27 week scan due to moving area and changing hospitals; they have told me that my baby hasn't grown & her weight hasn't changed since my 20 week scan and have referred me to a consultant.

My Down syndrome / Edward / Pataus tests came back as the lowest - 1 in whatever number they are.

The lady scanning me didn't really say much; just said no growth has happened and they're referring me to a consultant within the week (not sure it they actually mean a week or more) but now I'm worried

Has anyone else had this? What was the outcome?

Yes - I had this with my first son. Very little growth, measured small at my 20wk appointment and put under consultant care from roughly 24 weeks. I was monitored weekly (heart rate every week at hospital and scans every other). I had an injection around after 30 weeks to encourage lung development case the baby had to come early. At 36 weeks they decided he needed to be born - c-section, he was in SCBU for 3 weeks and was about 1lb heavier than they calculated. He was still only 4lbs when he was born. He's now a lovely healthy 8 year old.

Trust your instincts but also your care. Best of luck x

@YouPrettyThings thank you for sharing. Glad your son is well and healthy.

My fear is a c-section and baby needing extra help; I feel like I'm not doing my job of keeping her safe and well before she's even here ....

She did mention extra scans / monitoring but didn't go into much detail and sent me for more bloods.
It's the waiting that's not helping I think - obviously I know others are in this situation too but the unknown isn't helping.

I’m sorry you’re going through this OP, it must be really concerning for you.
I have no experience but I just wanted to say that I hope everything goes well- reading the PP, it’s truly amazing what they can do these days!

@PandaBabyJuly don't let it be a fear, the more they can do the better. At 27 weeks the chances of being premature born and healthy are higher than ever before because they can do so much. I had multiple scans over concern of weight gain and my baby was over 10 pound. But the midwives take every caution possible and get your baby as healthy as possible. Any extra care needed isn't bad it shows they aren't ignoring anything and they're looking after you both

I had this, my placenta wasn't working properly. I was monitored closely and had extra scans, eventually it was decided I'd be admitted at 34w, given 2 injections to help his lungs grow and he was born by csection a few days later. He was small but healthy and was in NICU for 5 days to be monitored.

At the time you just do what you've got to do, csection was planned so quite calm, small baby meant small scar and quite a decent recovery.

I had this and the midwife that did the scan put the fear of god into me !! I was sent to the hospital for a further scan and because I work for the nhs and know a couple of O&G Consultants I asked them for advice and they did another scan. My dd was a healthy 7 pounder when born !!!!!

Thank you for sharing everyone.
I feel a bit better now; it felt like I'd been given bad news / no explanation and left to it ... but as others here have said they can get bigger & monitoring can only be a good thing. Smile

Now the wait for next week ... it's going to drag along I think
