Migraines in pregnancy - anyone else?

I have suffered with migraines for the past few years (4 years ish) probably due to a high stress job, with a lot of screen use but also noted it was often around the time of ovulation. Since getting pregnant (I am only about 5 weeks) I have had a significant amount more and I am really struggling to work because of it. They start with an aura, as a sort of precursor to the actual headache, however the aura significantly reduces my eyesight and any attempt to work through the aura is met with awful consequences. Is anyone else the same? I have tried to take lots of breaks and I drink plenty of fluids, but this is now significantly affecting my working day.

I’m wary of constantly taking painkillers to conquer them too.

I have always been lucky in the sense that they do not last more than a few hours, but that’s if I rest in a cool dark room.

Does anyone else suffer and have any tips and tricks to get me through this first trimester?

@catinthehat12 I've suffered with migraines since I was about 14 and they were a huge indicator of when I was due my period. Since I've been pregnant I haven't got many, WELL until Saturday. I was on a 10 hour shift, all day at the till which was staring at the screen, along with my work being rammed with customers and just noise and shouting. I got home and I was in bed from 8pm that night until 9pm the following day. Couldn't eat because I felt sick, I think I slept on and off for 18 hours. Thankfully woke up yesterday like a new woman and it had gone. But like you I was scared to take anything, but I took paracetamol and it didn't even touch the sides of the pain

I've suffered with migraines all my life.
Mine got significantly worse between 16-19 weeks, absolutely debilitating so I feel your pain. I spoke to the midwife and she said it's totally fine to take the max dose of paracetamol daily but if I can get away with the lowest dose then that's better. You'll know yourself that paracetamol barely touches the pain though! They said if they kept going I could get referred to the consultant for some stronger pain relief (propanalol I think?!) But would need weekly growth scans as it can affect baby. Luckily they have stopped now but I did find the kool n soothe patches for your forehead worked to distract me from the pain for a little while!
