Polyhydramnios

Hi, has anyone either been told they have polyhydramnios this pregnancy or had it on a previous pregnancy? I had a private wellbeing and 4d scan this weekend which shows I am just above the normal range of amniotic fluid at 9cm at 25 plus 6 weeks. I was only 4cm at 20 weeks. I have given the referral in to the community midwife but they don't seem bothered but has passed it on to a consultant. My bump is also measuring big for this stage as I was 28cm at my 25 week appointment. I am just worried that I am going to be fobbed off. On the plus side the private scan did say the baby is looking fine. I am just worried about undiagnosed birth defects or giving birth early.

A close friend of mine had this with two pregnancies. She had a lot of additional monitoring, like extra growth scans. Her baby was born prematurely by caesarean section, but not due to the polyhydramnios.

If it has been passed on to a consultant that means it will be taken seriously, so I'm sure they will do what they need to.

I've had it with 2 singletons and one of my twins. It didn't cause any issues during pregnancy or birth and was put down to having larger babies for me. It was like a waterfall when they broke my waters with the singletons, twin was cesarean so didn't see anything when they broke her waters.

Yep, I did. Was due to birth defects but we knew this as it was evident from the 20wk scan. I’m sure if you have polyhydramnios they have scanned with the view to seeing if there is anything to detect but having said that you say you are just above the normal. Just above or just below are pretty meaningless and I wouldn’t get worried, as with all things in life this works to a bell curve and if you are not smack on the mean it doesn’t indicate there is an issue.

I had it last year, no complications whilst I was pregnant. My waters went at 37+4 and by god it was ALOT. I was getting a section and they were still coming 6 hours later as I was getting wheeled into theatre. So yeah be prepared for the flood.
