Is Morning sickness gender related?

Hi guys,

So I'm pregnant with my second. My first was a girl and I had horrible morning sickness.

This time - and I don't want to speak too soon - I'm really tired but generally the nausea is manageable - whereas last time I couldn't even walk into the kitchen for the smell.

I know the old wives tale is that you're more sick with a girl than a boy. Has anyone had a girl and a boy and noticed a difference? Or had two girls and had different experiences?

Would love to know out of interest! Xx

I only have 1 child but when pregnant with my son I had horrific hyperemesis gravidarum, could barely keep anything (even water!) down from around 5 weeks before knowing I was pregnant to literally being sick whilst in labour, being in and out of hospital and constantly fainting. So I'm going to say no Grin

@ipswichwitch

I don’t buy it. I had two boys and had much worse morning sickness the second time round. Also the heartburn meaning a good head of hair thing also seems to be bullshit - had a little heartburn with DS1 and he had an impressive head of thick dark hair. Heartburn from hell with DS2 and he was bald as a coot!
Yep! No morning sickness with number 1 and terrible morning sickness with this one, it's another boy and I'm 32 weeks pregnant. It's all just old wives tales, no truth to it imo.

I have 2 boys. First time I was reasonably fine, second time I felt so so so so sick. I’m now 5 weeks with baby 3 and so far have had little nausea again but terrible upset tummies and I feel full of energy which is unheard of for me 😂

Hyperemesis with both - was much, much sicker with my son, but it lasted longer with my daughter (until she was 1 day old).

There’s a theory that Hyperemesis can be related to the father and that holds true for me and my friend. With my first (ds) and her first 2 pregnancies (both girls) we both had terrible Hyperemesis throughout. Both relationships broke down and we moved on, my second (another boy) her third (another girl) nothing worse than mild morning sickness. So gender had nothing to do with ours

Not for me. I was rarely sick with dd but if I was it was in the mornings. With ds it would be in the evenings if at all. With this pregnancy at 16 weeks in I have had no sickness at all just some nausea. I found the shape of my bump was different with dd and ds, dd's was very low down whereas ds was under my boobs and very round, looked like I had a huge ball shoved under my top.
