What clothes should I buy for a may baby?

I'm aware this is a stupid question but I'm not sure. My baby is due the end of may and the first few weeks I probably will dress him in a babygrow.

But I'm not sure if to buy more outfits for example outfits with a bodysuit and shorts or if to buy more outfits with long sleeves. As he will roughly be in 0-3 until august (I know that's only a guide though as he could be in that size for a shorter or longer time).

At the moment I've got a couple of babygrows so any advice will be appreciated

I've always stuck to baby grows and vests underneath.
Obviously if the weather is really warm then I wont put a vest on.

The usual rule roughly I believe is baby always needs 1 layer more than you.
Although I've never really paid attention to that just gone with what I feel is right.

It's very hard to tell because the weather is so unpredictable. If you're just going to be indoors though, I'd say vests and baby grows

I'd say get about 10 vests, 5 babygrows and a couple of cute but comfortable outfits. I found those bandana bibs really useful, get about 10 of those as they dibble a lot and it's easier to change a soggy bib than the whole outfit.

I have had a May baby and a June baby and for both I found for me that babygrows were by far the easiest item of clothing for the first month or two. The long sleeve ones worked fine until a heatwave came at the end of June and then I put him in a short sleeve babygrow with joggers on if it became cooler. Same for my DD too. There are so many nappy changes in the early days, milk coming back up and so on that the easier the outfit change the better. I did have a couple of outfits for occasions and for smart or going out, like dresses and tights for my DD and dungarees for my DS. They are cute and lovely to look at, but also a pain to get on and off. I would invest in some babygrows you really love and enjoy them. M&S, JoJo, John Lewis and Frugi have some really colourful ones, fun prints and pretty good quality. Also Mini Club at Boots, come to think of it. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck for May Smile

I had an early June baby. I second vests and babygros, but also invest in a few little cotton cardigans/sweaters and leggings. I found that my DS was quite fussy about temperature and ran a bit cold, so layers were useful.

I also had loads of light muslins that I could whip on and off as the temperature changed.

Bodysuits, sleepsuits, cardigans, hats and thin blankets. Babies are not very good at regulating their body temperature so layering is always best whatever time of year, just add or take away layers as needed throughout the day/night.
Outfits are lovely but not very comfy for newborns and better when they're bigger.
