Can placenta change position at all?

What the title says really, is it possible for the placenta to change positions as it grows?

At a private scan at 16+3 I was told it was anterior fundal. Then at 20 week scan anterior. Then at a growth scan at 26 weeks it was posterior and now today at another private scan 27+1 the notes say anterior! I've never had chance to ask as never looked at the notes until after the scan, I will ask my midwife next time I see her but was wondering if anyone had had the same?

I'm assuming at the growth scan they got it wrong? I have been feeling very strong movements from around 19 weeks which did make me doubt it was anterior but perhaps I just have a very strong baby in there! 😂

I have an anterior (would have preferred posterior) but was told after hopefully asking that it's unlikely to move as you get further along - anterior to posterior, could move up and down tbough. I asked at my 20 week scan and sonographer said it's unlikely to move at that stage.

@Amethyst2502 I have an anterior placenta and have been able to feel movement since 16 weeks. I’m now 19+6 and have consistent strong kicks throughout the day. Midwife said I must have a very wriggly baby! I know the placenta can move up from being low down, but not sure about switching from back to front x

It can't switch from posterior to anterior or vice versa, that's an error in your notes.
"Anterior fundal" means the placenta is high up in the uterus, whereas "anterior" doesn't give any further clues as to where it lies exactly (high or low).

What @WomenAndVulvas said.
Can't move from anterior to posterior as that would mean it travelled inside from the front to the back...
However, it can move up and down depending on how your uterus expands. So fundal or previa can change as pregnancy progresses.
At least this is my understanding of it all.

It can't move from where it is attached but it moves with the growing uterus so does change position slightly. So a low lying one can move to be clear of the cervix, I had that with my twins.
If it's anterior it will stay that way and probably just an oversight when typing up notes.
