When to worry about reduced movements?

I'm 26 + 3 and am wondering when I should be worrying about reduced movements, I haven't felt baby since 9 last night!

Have a glass of really cold water and lay on your left side.
If you're worried though, ring the number they give you. They might advise you to come in to be checked

SnooperTrooper12345 · 12/03/2021 11:00

They don't tend to focus as much on it though until around 28 weeks. But still better to get checked

wizzled · 12/03/2021 11:01

Have a cold drink and eat a biscuit and lay down for 30 mins on your side.
If your still worried then give them a ring

Call your midwife now. Do not wait. Go and get checked. Don't 'wait and see' please call now

lucymagoo · 12/03/2021 11:23

Don't wait, always go get checked. I went at 27 weeks and it turned out he had just flipped around and was kicking facing my bum so I couldn't feel it on my tummy like I was used to. They told me they're glad I came in regardless and I did the right thing, as did my midwife. Definitely get checked as it's better to be safe than sorry.

From what I’ve read you should always call your midwife about any reduced movements. They always say don’t wait no matter how many times you’ve called before or how insignificant it might seem

imo67 · 12/03/2021 12:05

Thanks everyone, I had a cold sugary drink, and she has been moving fine now!

Did the midwife advise you to do that? I thought that now they weren’t actually keen for you to do that as the baby may move and you think they’re fine but they’re only moving because of that drink rather than as they should be. I would call triage anyway to see what they say; I had similar at 27 weeks and they told me that if it happened again to call up straight away and go in to be checked

cerealgamechanger · 12/03/2021 12:32

You should ALWAYS be concerned about reduced movements. Glad you're feeling reassured right now but next time, call the hospital straightaway and follow their advice.

imo67 · 12/03/2021 12:41

Thanks @user1493413286 no I haven't spoken to midwife yet, as I'm at work.

I think my judgement is a bit clouded with reduced movements, I had a lot with my first, and got told to lay on my side and drink cold drink hence why I have this time.

@user1493413286 I will give them a ring, now I'm in my lunch break.

I might be wrong but I remember that being the advice when I had my first 4 years ago but when I had a baby last year the midwife told me to phone triage rather than do that as thinking around it had changed

Humpty11 · 12/03/2021 13:01

Definitely give them a ring, they won’t mind at all. I rang our DAU on Monday when I was 26+5 because movements were different to what they’d been (and I was comparing them to my previous pregnancy when he moved around all the time too!). They were more than happy to see and monitor me and they definitely provided reassurance. It’s definitely better to get checked and everything be fine than wish you had.
I hope you get seen soon.

imo67 · 12/03/2021 15:11

Wasn't happy with movements, so now at hospital

I hope it’s nothing and chances are that it is nothing but glad you’re getting checked out OP

imo67 · 12/03/2021 17:20

Baby literally went mental the moment I on machine, she is all good!

That's great news! Glad you got checked

Grognonne · 12/03/2021 18:06

@user1493413286 - when I phoned the midwife a few weeks ago she advised a cold drink and a lie down!!

Humpty11 · 12/03/2021 18:48

@imo67 always the way! I’m glad you got checked over though and everything was okay.
