Hello first mum here so anxious with pregnancy Smile I'm 20 weeks and yesterday I felt a lot of movement and today I haven't felt anything....can this be normal? When does the daily regular movement come?

I do have an anterior placenta written on my notes at my 12 week scan.

Just worried as he was so active yesterday and today I've felt nothing Sad

I felt my first baby move at 21 weeks. Don't worry: it will take a couple of weeks more until you feel it regularly.

I used to have this anxiety. Luckily I was working from home (I was 20 weeks in November) so I would get a cold glass of water and take myself off to lie on my side for a bit. That usually made them wake up. I too have an anterior placenta. If your ever worried, ring your midwife

I had a few days feeling nothing at 19weeks, after having regular movement since 16 weeks. So rang community midwife who was happy for me to come in and she would check for heartbeat. She said its completely fine to do so and they would rather we dont just worry for what takes 5 minutes.

If you're still not getting movements and that would help give your midwife a call.

It’s too early to expect a very regular pattern of movement. Baby is probably just nearer the back today where you can’t feel movements as much.

However if you’re really worried call up the hospital and they’ll likely be happy for you to go in and be checked over.

I didn't even feel any movement until 24 weeks (2nd baby). Even at 32 weeks I have still quieter days than others. Midwives suggest from 28 weeks, most babies should have a consistent pattern.

MightyMidnight · 12/03/2021 09:02

The count the kicks campaign was meant to start at 28 weeks by which time thing should be more regular. At 20 weeks your baby is tiny and has plenty of room so you won't feel everything.

I’m at 27 weeks and it’s really only recently that I feel things aren’t constantly up and down in regards movement. I also have an anterior placenta.

22 + 5 here with second pregnancy and feeling nothing at all so far.

NamechangeTTC · 12/03/2021 12:19

I’m 20+6 and only just feeling ripples. Nothing consistent and genuinely hard to tell if it’s baby or wind. I was worried when everyone told me they felt at 16!!

I'm going to go against the curve here and say contact your midwife. The NHS website doent put a week number on changes in fetal movement.

I had some reduced movements at 20 weeks i think but cant remeber exactly. They bought me in and did a heart rate check on him. Nothing was wrong but my hospital said they always prefer to check to ensure nothings missed. I think it's worth a phone call if for no other reason then to put your mind at rest.

I have a posterior placenta and I could feel my baby kicking from 18 weeks. When I was 21 weeks the baby had a quiet day and wasn't moving. I rang the triage unit and they were happy for me to come and get checked over.
