Hi all,

Due 22nd May however going away to see family 4 weeks prior who are a 5 hour car journey away so wanting to take our pregnancy bags with us just in case!

For a baby due in May/June would you pack short and long sleeve baby grows? Would you still pack hats? I have no idea what the temperature is like on wards? I have a car seat Kura blanket for the way home as car will have air conditioning but whilst in the hospital I don’t know if long sleeve would be too hot?!

Any advice appreciated!

Any clothing was too hot the ward I was in. It was awful.

That was end of April.

I would say yes to packing them, the worst that could happen is you don't need them!

Better to have and not need than need and not have. Good motto for life with a baby Grin

I realised as soon as I posted that I sound a complete idiot, I will pack one of everything but just wasn’t sure whether to pack 5 short sleeve vests and a couple long sleeve or the other way round. I have a habit of packing heavy so was trying to behave Grin I guess if I pack two of each my partner can always bring me extra in visiting hours the follow day if we have to stay in for any period of time.

I have no idea how many outfits newborns get through a day!

thanks all

I would pack long sleeve vests and hats for baby aswell as short sleeves , they’ve been tucked up warm for 9 months and feel the cold even when we’re hot and in our hospital the midwives liked them wrapped up!

DS was a summer baby. The wards are kept at Saharan temps. After my first sleep I remember waking up and looking at DS in a hat and cardigan wrapped in a blanket, I honestly thought I was hallucinating as it was around a million degrees. The midwives like em toasty!

Babies are not very good at regulating their body temperature. I would have a mix of s/s bodysuits, l/s sleepsuits, hats and cardigans just in case. Our 3rd is a May baby and it wasn't that hot.
