Flu jab pregnancy - any point now?

Hi

I never had the flu jab with my last pregnancy when baby was due a month later than this one. My midwife said it wasn’t necessary as it wasn’t flu season.
This time around, my midwife said it’s recommended to get it but my baby is due in august so still out of flu season and with everyone social distancing apparently there are hardly any flu cases around?

Would you get it? I had a fit after the whooping cough vaccine and same for MMR as a kid so I don’t react well to vaccines and would rather avoid if I can. But obviously don’t want any risk to baby (will get whooping cough one again despite reaction).

What are everyone’s thoughts??

I think the flu jab gives some protection to baby after it is born too and that may carry through to flu season but not 100% sure. I would be inclined to go for it for the extra protection but then I haven't had a reaction to a vaccine so that will be a consideration for you.

Why haven't you had it already? Was that a conscious decision? My baby is due in July and I had it at 12 weeks (which was the earliest my GP practice would do it)

Flu season lasts for another three weeks so worth having still.

I’m due August too and have had mine mostly because of the protection the jab offers to baby x

Ok thanks guys.
Because I didn’t have it last time I didn’t even think about getting it! It was only at my 16 week appointment last week that it was mentioned and crossed my mind!
I didn’t realise it passed to the baby too once born....that makes it more worthwhile for sure

My midwife mentioned it at my booking appointment, having it at my scan appointment in 10 days xx

I was never offered it in my 1st 2 pregnancies, both born in Dec. Had with other 2 pregnancies but declined it with current one. I've not got out much with all this lockdown lark so didn't feel it was needed.
It can offer a few months of protection to baby after birth. Ours is due August so probably will not cover her through to next flu season.

Flu season is October through to March. My baby is due at the beginning of September and I am getting my flu jab next week.

@Chelyanne well that’s what I was originally thinking....I live in the countryside and am super careful due to being in a childcare bubble with my mum who is more vulnerable so can’t see how I’d get it really but obviously there’s still a chance.
