Pain down below!

As always I've googled but that comes up with 100 different things. Out of nowhere for the last 48 hours I've been getting an aching pain down below around my pubic bone area. The only way I can describe it is it feels like I've been kneed between the legs?! It's not out of control pain but it is noticeable and feels a little bit sore to the touch. Google came up with SPD or pelvic girdle pain, is this potentially what this is? It's come out of nowhere and I'm 17 weeks pregnant today!

I always describe my spd/ pgp as a 'swift kick to the crotch with a steel-toed boot.'

Get yourself over to the pelvic partnership website. It has all the info you could ever want on pgp.

If it sounds like that, get yourself to a (pregnancy trained) chiropractor or osteopath to see immediate improvement!!

It is progressive, but treatable. And it's easier to treat (according to my osteopath) when you first start with symptoms.

Thankyou! Yeah when I was looking it up it talked about other symptoms I don't have so wasn't sure, maybe they are yet to come! But yeah literally like I've been kicked 😂 Thankyou I will, did you speak to your midwife about it first?

I am on baby number 3 and my pubic bone has been agony for all of them. I've never had an official diagnosis for SPD as waiting for NHS physio was not an option (I'm still waiting for my first referral for a baby who is now 3.5) so I just referred myself privately.

One physio nearly killed me and did something diabolical to my back while trying to fix my pelvis. The other wss a god send and meant I wss able to stay off crutches for my second (after my husband having to lift me off the couch etc).

Best of luck with it. It can be really horrendous but for my previous 2 it did disappear immediately after birth and the physio definitely got it to a more manageable level.

I have this too and can recommend strengthening yoga. When I spoke to a physio she recommended some exercises and these all seem to be included in the pregnancy yoga videos. Hadn’t done any yoga before, but I’ve noticed a huge difference. I’ve just used YouTube for the exercises.

By all means, mention it to your midwife!! But in my experience, the nhs will say 'here are you crutches, now piss off.'

I went to nhs physio last pregnancy. She was sympathetic, but told me there was nothing they could do (she was a woman's health physio and totally incorrect). She wouldn't touch me, and if it is pgp/ spd (spd is just a specific type of pgp), you need manual manipulation.
