In the nicest possible way, why do you think it wouldn't be?

Chelyanne · 04/03/2021 15:06

Yes, of course baby will be okay.

BlueberryPancake21 · 04/03/2021 15:06

Why are you worried about this? Did you fall over? Did your heartrate go through the roof? I mean, definitely worth being a bit more careful but the simple act of running up stairs, down stairs or anywhere else won't do anything to your baby.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 04/03/2021 15:19

Um, how exactly do you think women have managed while pregnant for all these millennia if this kind of movement damaged babies Confused

In feudal times you’d have been out working the fields....

It’s quite good to be active when pregnant and running up and down stairs is good exercise. You can’t unfortunately just cocoon yourself and lie still for 9 months.

RunningFromInsanity · 04/03/2021 15:27

I ran a half marathon at 34weeks...

SmidgenofaPigeon · 04/03/2021 15:32

For your own good OP have you mentioned to your MW about your anxiety? I know from your other threads it’s been going on for quite a while. I’m not throwing stones because I’m 12 weeks and have been terrified at times too but I think your posts have definitely been on the more extreme anxiety side. It’s not good long term for your mental health.

katiemumma20 · 04/03/2021 16:24

I was very over excitedly running up and down the stairs in a zoom game where you had to find objects around the house when I was around 12 weeks pregnant. It’s fine! X

Turtleturtle81 · 04/03/2021 17:27

I ran 10 miles when I was 14 weeks pregnant. I ran 5k 4 weeks before giving birth. It’s more of a concern if running down the stairs once is the most strenuous activity you do all day.

Chewingle · 04/03/2021 17:28

Oh dear Lord

BebesChamber · 04/03/2021 22:24

What @SmidgenofaPigeon said. If you are posting weekly about a different worry each time it may be worth speaking to your midwife about your mental health. Yes everyone has their concerns about things but this is a lot for you to deal with.

Also, some common sense is needed here. If the activity is a normal activity that you'd expect many women to do, aka, running up the stairs/ drinking fruit juice, then you can most likely consider it non-harmful to your baby. If there are women who have done hard drugs/binge drinking and their babies have been born fine then let that put it in perspective for you.

Nobody would need abortions if you could sort it that easily.

countbackfromten · 05/03/2021 10:51

I am with other posters on this.

@Expectingnumber1 have you discussed with your midwife or GP about your anxiety? Because, and I mean this in the kindest way, your posting history suggests that you are exceptionally anxious about many things. There is help and support available. Perinatal mental health teams are around to provide support and it really does sound like you need to discuss with your midwife.

dotdashdashdash · 05/03/2021 10:57

Prenatal anxiety is a genuine thing and one that you can just develop out of nowhere - there is help available.

Honestly, babies are hardy little things. It takes a lot to shake one hat is otherwise healthy.

Wait until you are pregnant with DC2 and DC1 is jumping on your belly - again, something which is totally fine!

fairydustandpixies · 05/03/2021 11:10

I fell down the stairs more times than I can count whilst pregnant. My sons are 22 and 21 now and perfectly fine!
