Did you vomit by 9 weeks?

Just that really. I'm 9+2 and have had nausea since about 4 weeks, I'm terrified of actual vomiting though. Does it normally happen before 9 weeks? Thank you x

I think it would have started by now.
My first pregnancy I started about 6/7 weeks and my second at 5 weeks.

Do you think so? x

Vomiting didn’t start til 12 weeks for me but think I’m in the minority. It’s been one day a week since then x

Kate105 · 04/03/2021 13:25

I didn’t start until 8 weeks and even then it’s sporadic. Only Mondays thus far 😂 now 9+4 and had a near miss this morning though!

MooreLew · 04/03/2021 13:27

My hyperemesis started at around 6 weeks and was vomiting multiple times a day from that point.

MeadowHay · 04/03/2021 13:29

I've had HG both times and both times the vomiting started around week 6.

MrsEG · 04/03/2021 13:29

I had twins and I wasn’t sick once!

Tatum1234 · 04/03/2021 13:48

Never with 4 pregnancies.

Emetophobe here as well. It might cheer you up to know that my nausea went away almost overnight at 9 weeks!! I was nauseous from 6-9, the worst was 8-9. Was never sick though. I was expecting it to get worse but bizarrely the worst day I had was also the day it suddenly got better. It was the day of Harry & Meghan's wedding as I clearly remember watching the livestream feeling like death but the sickness suddenly lifted that same evening. I think it has something to do with the placenta taking over hormone production between weeks 8-12. Once that happens the hormones stabilise and you are far less likely to feel sick.

I did get random small moments of feeling sick until week 14, and very random ones until week 20. However those were mild and nowhere close to the first trimester, so if you survive this now you can handle those without any problems. Having an empty stomach makes it worse so try to keep crackers, crisps or whatever safe foods work for you around all the time.

Mamabearwhere · 04/03/2021 15:58

I had really bad nausea weeks 5-8 then from week 9 started vomiting a few times a day. Now week 11 and back to nausea only.

aug2ftm · 04/03/2021 16:07

I had bad nausea in trimester one but only ever sick once at around 17 weeks! Now 20 weeks and no nausea or vomiting.

Hello, it's nice to speak to another emetophobe! So your nausea went away from week 9 more or less? I mean as an emet if you're like me I do have days pregnant or not when I feel sick, especially if I'm anxious. Christmas Day I felt so sick I couldn't eat lunch and I wasn't even pregnant then! I've stopped taking my anti anxiety medication which I don't think is helping! If it's just nausea I can handle it, it's vomiting that I'm absolutely terrified of. How was your labour? X

It's different for everyone. I'm on my 5th pregnancy and I've never been sick

Really! Did you get nausea or just nothing at all? What about in labour? x

This pregnancy I had a little bit of nausea but only the first couple of weeks. And once I'd eaten, I was fine. And nope, never in Labour

ShadierThanaPalmTree · 04/03/2021 16:33

I didn't vomit at all during 1st trimester. Is there a reason why you are scared of it?

GreenSlide · 04/03/2021 16:35

I vomited from weeks 7-13 but only like once a day.

Did you feel ok during the other trimesters? It's just a deep rooted phobia I've had since I was about 8 or 9. I've tried CBT but it didn't help. If anything it's getting worse as I get older x

I was sick every morning from 6 to 18 weeks - definitely had started by 9 weeks. Nausea was constant and only went away at about 22 weeks. I actually found the nausea worse than the vomiting but realise I don't have a fear of vomiting to contend with.

ShadierThanaPalmTree · 04/03/2021 18:43

@backtobedagain Ohhh sorry op, I didn't realise that you had a phobia about it, that must be really hard to deal with!

No, throughout my first trimester I felt REALLY queasy all of the time, but never vomited. In the 2nd and 3rd trimesters I wasn't sick either but the queasiness passed. Some people don't get it at all, and as other posters have said, I think that if you were going to have suffered with sickness I think it would have happened by now!

Also, congratulations!

Yes, the constant seasick feeling went away around week 9. I was able to eat normal meals and work normal hours after that instead of just lying on the couch all day! My third trimester was fantastic, not even a hint of nausea or heartburn. I had an ELCS which was wonderful and calm. Didn't feel sick or anxious at any point during the surgery & recovery and have lovely memories of the day.

Have you tried the Thrive program by Rob Kelly against emetophobia? I've tried all kinds of therapy and that came closest to improving the phobia. It wasn't an instant magic cure however it did work significantly better than CBT.

Andthenanothercupoftea · 04/03/2021 21:34

I had nausea until about week 13/14, but I was only sick twice.
