Breakfast making me sick

Hi mamas/mamas to be

I’m 21+ weeks with my second baby and as with my first I’m finding that I get really sick after eating breakfast. My stomach gets a little tighter, my heart begins to race, I get shortness of breath and a little nauseas. It feels like I’ve over eaten and I’m stuffed (but I’ve only had like 2 pieces of toast). It’s really uncomfortable. I don’t have any discomfort or problems upon waking up, and this feeling goes away after about an 1-1.5hours. So it’s the breakfast meal itself that’s causing this. I don’t get it with other meals... though I do get it if I drink water quickly.

Anyone else experienced this? Know what causes it? What did you do to manage it?

Have you tried eating a variety of different breakfasts? Or at different times? So like either as soon as you get up, half hour/hour later? I’ve read that eating something small like a ginger biscuit before you even get out of bed can help line your stomach a little bit in preparation for the larger breakfast when you do get up. Hope it passes for you soon Flowers

Eat anything you fancy - even if its not brilliantly healthy or breakfast food. just to get you through and with food. Could it be that nausea is actually you being a little over hungry from not eating all night ?

@hollyannfra2020 you might be onto something. I had a super late breakfast today at 10:30-11am, and I’ve felt the worst. I had to lay down and have a nap. The physical discomfort is gone but I have a bad headache. My usual breakfast time it 7.30-8am and it’s uncomfortable but never this bad.

I will try and eat earlier tomorrow and maybe have a small biscuit immediately upon waking up as @MrsB2019x suggested, and have my breakfast sooner.

I had this around the time if I ate any volume, and was a bit more sensitive at breakfast. Personally, I find 2 pieces of toast is a lot for me some days. Have 1. An hour later, if you're hungry again, have another. Or eat something more like a proper meal? It may be carb loading on an empty stomach is throwing you, so try a yoghurt or some soup. It just comes down to experimenting.
I found liquid volumes especially hard so toast (1 slice, no sugar on it) would have been perfect for me.

So this morning I had 1/3 of a banana and a glass of lemon water. Then 40-1h later I had - crepe. I did react to the banana and water - though not as much as usual. I think the water may have been too large in volume even though I sipped it slowly. The reactions come a bit late so I have to see how I fair with the - crepe.

@MrsB2019x, @Dr273, @hollyannfra2020

Thank you so so much for your advice. I cannot thank you enough. This is the first morning I haven’t felt I needed to vomit or lay down after breakfast - in a long time.

Eating something small - waiting -
Then slowly eating my breakfast with 30min-1h intervals has really helped.
