does stomach rumbling effect unborn baby’s hearing

I am 20wk pregnant and taking lactulose syrup to combat severe constipation. The lactulose helps with bowel movements but it makes my stomach rumble and churn so loudly for 2 straight before nature calls.
My concern is that since the babies hearing is now developing (I understand that hearing develops around 18-26 wks) is that my super loud stomach rumbles are effecting it (it’s hearing). I know the baby is sensitive to external noises after 24 wks, and the midwife advises to avoid loud situations (concerts, construction, fights etc.), but surely internal digestive noises are higher in decibels than external noises from the babies perspective.

Any experiences? Am I overthinking this?

In the nicest possible way, yes you are overthinking this.

Babies are comforted by body noises. There is no way your digestive system produces rock concert type decibels. Probably not even louder than general speech - and we all sing, shout, listen to music, mow the lawn, beep the horn, and so on when pregnant.

You’ll be surprised at the decibels the baby themselves can produce after birth. Cries, gurgles, snuffles, loud breathing, adult sized farts.

You're overthinking it Smile your tummy rumbles will not be affecting your baby's hearing at all, don't worry.

I sure hope you're heartbeat isn't too loud!

It won't affect baby at all Smile in the nicest way, you're overthinking it

Your abdomen would have to be providing A LOT of sound insulation for a 120 db concert to be in competition with your stomach rumbles.

Massively overthinking.

In kindness, you’re overthinking this.

Your baby is well protected from your bodily noises due to the amniotic fluid etc.

Changethetoner · 03/03/2021 18:07

Yes the baby will hear the noises, but it won't cause any damage. Worry not.

PricklesAndSpikes · 03/03/2021 18:07

I honestly didn't know that was a consideration! Shock I was living overseas when I had my daughter, I went to an Elton John concert at about 7 months I think and a Bon Jovi concert at 8.5 months! My daughter's hearing is just fine! Smile

Thank you all for the responses, yes I thought it was a case of overreaction and overthinking. I get so sick and tired of hearing my digestive system go off I was concerned that it was impacting the baby. Smile

If it was a rumbling stomach that caused deafness, my children would have hearing problems and not just selective deafness🤣
