First trimester symptoms disappearing at 9 weeks

Hi all,

I’m probably worrying for nothing (?) but I’m 9 weeks today and my symptoms have started to disappear over the last few days, I almost had a normal day yesterday.

I had suffered a lot from nausea, vomiting, exhaustion (and many more) from week 5, and although it’s a relief to feel human again I can’t help but worry...

I had an early scan at week 8 exactly and all was fine, we heard the heartbeat and the baby was actually dated 8+4 days.

I have no symptoms of anything going wrong, but it doesn’t reassure me as I know I could be having a missed mc.

Have your experienced anything similar? When should I reach out to my midwife?

Thanks xxx

This happened to me around 9 weeks and I convinced myself I was having a MMC. My NHS "12 week scan" wasn't until 13 weeks, so I booked another private scan. It was only £40 as was a reassurance scan - everything was fine.
They said this often happens around 9-10 weeks as the placenta begins to take over.
I'm now 39 weeks!!
If you can afford it, get another scan. It's money well spent, but I'm sure you'll be fine.
Also Google "Miscarriage Odds Reassurer" - I looked at this most days and found it really helpful to look at the percentage chance that everything was going to be fine x

Often symptoms can come and go for a few days anyway!!

Also, for reference, I had a mmc in my first pregnancy, had already seen the heartbeat etc and I lost none of my symptoms whatsoever, even up until the point I had surgical management at 12 weeks, I still had morning sickness.

Hey OP, this happened to me around 10 weeks and honestly i felt the exact same as you do now, we also saw a HB at 8+4 and our 12 week scan isn't until next Friday, I ended up booking a scan last Friday just to check as my nerves were shattered and all was fine!

Could you book a scan for some reassurance? I've read it's totally normal but sometimes seeing baby is okay is all that helps! You could call your midwife and see what they say as they might ask you to come in. It's worth a go!

I know its easier said than done but try not to fret too much, the miscarriage reassurer the PP has mentioned is a great tool too. I hope youre okay love xx

What would you like from this post OP? I could tell you my first pregnancy ended exactly the same way (missed miscarriage only discovered at 12 week scan) but what reassurance does that offer you? It's great that everything was fine at your 8 week scan! That's a really big swing in your favour. Unfortunately a lot of pregnancy is a stressful waiting game as I found with my subsequent successful pregnancies. Fingers crossed for you but this kind of thread can't influence the outcome of your pregnancy, you just have to wait.

It's completely normal for symptoms to come and go at any point. And sometimes not even come back. The only symptoms I've ever had is sore boobs which come and go week to week. It's even more normal for symptoms to lighten up as you get closer to the second trimester!

I felt like this at 9 weeks but 11 weeks they came back strong again :(

Hi OP, I felt like this at 9 weeks and at 10 weeks they came back again. I'd say book a private scan for reassurance if you can x

Gemmaemilyx · 02/03/2021 20:08

Mine stopped at 9 weeks (nausea anyway!!) 😃 xx

Thank you all for sharing your experience. I have the harmony scan next week so I’ll try to stay calm until then... it seems so far away! Worrying won’t change anything anyway, right? Smile
