I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant and for the past week when I’m going to the toilet I am having light bleeding and sometimes bloody discharge in between, I haven’t had a doctors appointment as due to covid everything is done via telephone, I am due my first scan in a few weeks time though I got in touch with a midwife and she wasn’t very helpful she advised ‘could it be thrush’ which I’m certain it’s not I’m not even sure blood comes with thrush? She advised not to be seen unless I am filling a pad. I had spotting at 6 weeks so I’m not sure if it’s that again or if you spot more than once but I’m getting more and more worried the more days it goes on for has this happened to anybody else?

Sorry you’re going through this... I don’t know why she suggested thrush?! Can you bypass your midwife and call your EPU/triage? I think you need a scan.

Is it red blood? Xxx

I've just been through a hell of a time with unhelpful midwives, ending up unnecessarily in A&E. Some bleeding can be perfectly normal, but call maternity triage and get a scan booked to put your mind at ease.

Here's my recent post if it helps. I'm also 10 weeks pregnant.

My bleeding is from my cervix which often becomes more sensitive during pregnancy. It can bleed after sex, after a poo (!) or just sometimes for seemingly no reason at all. If it's light then it's probably nothing. If you're bleeding like you're on your period, phone maternity triage or go to A&E.

Light bleeding that lasts more than a few days or bright red bleeding should be assessed at epau. You need to ring your GP and ask for a referral. It could be something innocent but it needs to be checked. Good luck
