Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice?

I'm pregnant with number 2. DS was positive and I had anti D injections during the pregnancy for bleeding and following his birth.

I then had a miscarriage 8 months later at 8 weeks.

I'm now pregnant again and all is well so far. I am 15 weeks. Baby is positive like their Dad.

Should i of had anti D after my miscarriage?

Can anyone give me an insight of if I'm at risk of anything going wrong?

I've been on the horror that is google and got myself all worked up, thought best to ask real people x

I am also RH- and had a miscarriage, and later her DD (who is positive). My miscarriage was also around the 8 week mark. I specifically asked about this, but was told that since it was so early, no anti-D would be needed. I had all the necessary anti-D injections with my second pregnancy and all was absolutely fine. But do speak to your midwife if you need any reassurance or have any concerns Smile

Hi there, I have a son who’s 3 who is positive. I’m now 26 weeks pregnant with a second baby. When my son was very young I had an abortion at 8 weeks and was told I didn’t need to have the anti-d injection following the abortion. I know it’s not the same as your miscarriage, and I’m very sorry for your loss, but it’s a similar biological process so I can only assume you wouldn’t have needed the anti-d either. Best of luck with your pregnancy x

Im unsure if you needed one after miscarriage. I was always under the impression it was more important after first pregnancy.

Where i am interested in is the risk re: jaundice both my dc has severe jaundice that involved week in hospital double light therapy. It wasnt until 2nd dc i was told it was likely because of my rh neg antibodies attacking positive baby blood. Its something i would like to explore now and would definetly ensure jaundice levels are checked more because i left hospital and had to be readmitted twice. With my 2 dc the levels rose so high she was close to a transfusion.

Ps my first pregnancy ended in mc at 8 weeks and i was given anti d injection

If you experience a complete miscarriage in the 1st 12 weeks you do not need the anti-d. Mc after 12 weeks, where pregnancy "products" are retained, ectopic or termination do usually require the anti-d.

I'm Rh- but so is my dh, I only have the anti-D around 28wk (they insist) but have never required it after birth. I've never had one recommended after my mc's (all by 12wk) either.

hey @crispychicken12! I asked about this when i had a mc at 8 weeks; i was told by the doctor that anti-D is only needed before 10 weeks if you opt for surgical management. If you had been sensitised (ie your body is producing antibodies to attack Rh+ blood) it would have shown up on your booking bloods and you and baby would probably be being monitored. Maybe mention it to your midwife at your next appointment if you're concerned, but i'm sure all will be fine.

crispychicken12 · 02/03/2021 13:39

Ah okay, I'm going to ask my midwife today. I had a complete MC in July with no need for surgical management. I was roughly 8 weeks, hopefully this will not cause any problems

Hey @crispychicken12 - hope you get sorted. I'm negative and had a miscarriage in Oct at nearly 12 weeks. must have double/triple checked about twice over with the various ppl i saw and they all confirmed no anti D needed as was a complete miscarriage. 13 weeks now and just advised to have injection at 28 weeks.
Congrats on your pregnancy and hope all goes well :) x

I'm rh negative and my husband is positive. Does this mean I'll have an increased chance of miscarriage?
