Horrible taste in mouth

Does anyone else have this? Like a constant horrible taste in my mouth and windy stomach feeling? Made worse by tea, milk, squash, chocolate, anything sweet or enjoyable? 9 weeks atm and living off water, just want to know if anyone has any tips or tricks?

I had this in the 1st trimester but it eased off as I entered the 2nd trimester. Mints and brushing teeth were helpful for a short time.

I had this when pregnant with DS for the first 12 weeks. It went though and I didn’t have it when pregnant second time round

Yeah it’s a form of indigestion. Doesn’t last long but acidic foods will make it worse. Warm bland foods little and often are your friends right now. Try boiling up some barley water with lemon and sipping that too. My mum made it for me when I was having indigestion and even thought it’s a bit of a faff it really helped.

Nibbles of ginger biscuits..

WalkingMeAway · 28/02/2021 10:03

I’m afraid I still have this at 21w. I chew minty gum after each meal and only drink water.

It’s weird I didn’t have it in my previous 2 pregnancies

I didn’t realise it could be a form of indigestion!

JLM1008 · 28/02/2021 10:15

Yes I had and still have this. I’m 34 weeks now. I just got used to it.

zippy90 · 28/02/2021 10:32

@littlejalapeno will defo try the barely water thank you! Didn't realise it was indigestion either!

Will also try ginger biscuits, but any type of sweetness usually makes it worse. Along with any dairy/butter/flavour/spice 😂

@zippy90 I haven’t found anything that makes it better apart from disguising it with gum and drinking water. It’s horrible.

Urgh yes I've had this all throughout my first trimester. The only thing that I find helps is drinking tons of fruit tea (mainly peppermint or chammomile), cleaning my teeth constantly and chewing gum.

Bee44 · 28/02/2021 12:11

I'm not pregnant (yet!) but I've suffered with this for years on and off. It's to do with stomach acid and digestion and usually links to constipation, so if you're constipated you'll get it worse and vice versa. Things like chocolate, onions, spicy foods, coffee, oats can flare it up. I used to chew gum but apparently this can make it worse - when you're chewing your stomach prepares for food so produces more stomach acid which is what you can taste. Being overly hungry flares it up for me too, mints or peppermint tea helps!

I’ve had this throughout (now 16w) and no sign of improvement although my nausea is getting better. Reallt strange as this is my third and don’t recall it with my previous two 🤷🏻‍♀️ I find sugar free polos help!

I had this both pregnancies, it's so horrible and you have my sympathy! First time it lasted about 6 weeks in 1st/2nd trimester, but second pregnancy it lasted from c.10 weeks to birth :( nothing made it better, but once it went, it went, and it's just a memory now.

Everything that I usually liked was horrible and cooking smells that I loved, like onions, garlic, fresh chips, shepherds pie, also became revolting.

Remind yourself that it's not forever and will be worth it in the end! It's really grim though, and I felt so petty when I moaned about it, as I was well, the baby was growing well, I wasn't being sick. Good luck and I hope it goes soon for you!
