Hi all,

I'm 41+1 today, and for the past few evenings bubs has been going bonkers - from about 5pm until I go to bed - huge movements lots of wriggles and quite a lot of pains low down which are definitely linked to movement. It's all getting quite painful for me TBH!

She's fully engaged (as of my last appointment a couple of weeks ago, and probably before that judging by the shape of m bump) and had read and been told to expect less movement, which is pretty much what I'd been experiencing.

I know that movement is generally good and no movement generally bad, but this is weird...

Is there something wrong? Figured I'd start with asking you guys rather than just quitely worrying myself silly...

Have an appointment on Tuesday to discuss induction methods - do you think it's OK to wait until then or is this something I should be more concerned about?

Sounds fairly normal to me - but as you are concerned give your midwife a call - it is what they are there for after all
I know you say the pain coincides with movement - but is it possible that the pains low down are the start of something? Maybe you won't need Tuesday's appt after all - all the best anyway!

Ahh NL ... I've given up wondering whether things are starting or not - have had so many pains/cramps/contractions/BH etc etc over the past 2 weeks, which never seem to amount to anything - I think I've resigned myself to an induction next week... she doesn't seem to want to make an appearance of her own accord.

Discomfort/pains are pretty constant now - although frantic movements are more sporadic. Unhelpfully the most uncomfortable position at the mo is lying down in any position - which is dead useful for getting all that rest people keep advising!? [ironic emoticon]

Glad it sounds normal though - I may have a chat with the MWs at the hospital to check tomorrow if it keeps happening anyway...

designerbaby - have you tried ALL the self starting methods?
Baby definately a girl then - I love girls, I have three - but they can be contrary indeed - my first was induced at 14 days over. The other two did manage it under their own steam but only at 7-8 days overdue.

designerbaby · 05/11/2007 00:10

Oooooh yes... everything.

... and yes even THAT. Both kinds. No mean feat, let me tell you... especially after a shockingly hot curry.

Everything except the seven fresh pineapples, that is - that, for me, was just a step too far. A girl has to have her limits, right?

Seems like she'll take after her mum in both stubbornness and punctuality...

Ho hum... maybe tonight's the night...

and then again...

[hmmm]

Designer baby, you could be me posting that! I'm 40+5 and my lo is doing exactly the same thing and freaking me out! I did ask the mw about it and she said it was fine and normal. But it's horribly uncomfortable and stops me sleeping!

Commiserations. I reckon I'll be induced too. I thought it meant it was going to be a boy, assuming boys would be more laid back about coming; didnt know it was girls with that reputation!

Sending positive labour vibes to you Db!

You too Chocolate HobNob...
Let's hope both our babies get a fresh spurt of determination and curiosity about what's out here this morning and decide to make an appearance today... instead of just making their feelings known about the lack of space...

I keep telling her - if you're uncomfortable, don't kick me, just come out!

My baby was exactly like yours. I was 40+5 and she wriggled so much she broke my waters! Maybe this is what your baby is trying to do? I would see your midwife just incase the baby is getting distressed wanting to get out!

Best of luck

It's a real relief to hear other people having such similar probs. I am now 4 days overdue and been experiencing the same with my baby. Loads of alarming movements (I can feel the shape of its legs and feet as they protrude from my stomach.) It also feels as though it is grinding its head into my cervix which occassionally gives me quite a sharp pain down below. I keep hoping this will help to start things off but nothing as yet. I've tried curry, pinapples and sex. Any one got any other suggestions?

lemonaid · 08/11/2007 09:57

Book a really nice evening out that you really want to go on... that should do it (and if not, at least you get the evening out)

Lateasusual · 08/11/2007 10:07

Thanks Lemonaid,

Yes I am thinking about buying tickets for the fireworks display on Saturday. That's got to tempt fate right? And the bangs might give it the shock it needs. It's obviously way too happy in there!

i've heard giving dp oral and side stepping up and down stairs helps lo come earlier. not sure how true it is though. anyone tried it?
