Thoughts on the covid vaccine?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and in two minds about taking the vaccine, Has anyone else who is pregnant had the vaccine? If so, did you experience any adverse effects on you or the baby?

Unfortunately it is far too early to know if there have or will be any adverse effects on baby from this vaccine. It could take years to notice anything of concern.
I think each individual has to decide if their risk of infection and serious illness are higher than potential risks of the vaccine.

I will not be having one if offered, though I'm very far down the priority list anyway.

Look at the statistics on the official sites; 8 women have lost their babies referred to as 'spontaneous abortions' and that's just for Pfizer.

It's on the official sites in the documents detailing adverse reactions, sorry I don't have the actual link but it's official statistics so easy to find. Not sure about the other vaccine as only read the Pfizer document.

I haven't looked at the documents - but the Pfizer number is very likely statistically reflective of the chance of women having a miscarriage regardless of the vaccine (medically, miscarriages are called spontaneous abortions) or I'm sure there would be more press about this.

I thought the current advice was have it if the benefits outweigh the risks - so if you have a serious health condition or are extremely overweight, it might be worth considering. Neither of those apply to me so I definitely won't have it until afterwards, but am not at all worried about having it when I'm breastfeeding as the only vaccines that have ever had adverse effects via breastfeeding are those with live vaccines i.e. yellow fever, smallpox. The covid vaccine is not a live vaccine.

I had the vaccine yesterday. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and in group 6. I'm also 38 years old. For me, I felt the risks of getting Covid outweighed the potential risks of vaccination, because of my age and health conditions. I also have an older son so shielding in late pregnancy is not an option. It's a very personal decision but it's being offered to many pregnant health care workers in the UK, and many pregnant women in other countries. Overall, I feel good about my decision.
