Will this daytime/night-time sleeping arrangement work?!

Help! Trying to decide re cot/cotbed/Moses basket/etc etc etc...

I really don't like the look of Moses baskets (sorry!) also am concerned that our loopy lab might accidently knock one off it's stand.

We have a v small living room so trying to find something for daytime that doesn't take up too much space.

Girl in the pram shop today suggested by-passing the Moses basket altogether, using a cot/cotbed in our room at nighttime (and daytime naps if we want) and just getting a from-birth bouncy chair for the day time.

Would this work do you think? I have been conditioned into thinking a Moses basket is an essential item! We also have a detachable carry cot on our pram, so that could sit on the floor/table for daytime sleeping too?

Very confused, would appreciate any help!
Thank you!

For my first daughter I used a Moses basket and just placed it on the floor. She was fine in this...if you have a detachable carry cot that would be fine too.

I would just go for the pram for daytime - worked well in my experience. You really need a lot less tahn you think for a baby you know

If you have a carrycot you don't need a moses basket

Always had baby in cot for every sleep. We did have a moses basket for the nighttime sleep (for first 4 mths) but you're right they aren't essential. However I'm not sure sleeping in buggy/rocker seat/lounge for any sleeps would give baby the best sleep. Nursery in the dark worked for me. If we were out, we had a carry cot attachment on the buggy rather than a more 'sit-up' attachment in the early days. Also, sure you know this, but car seats shouldn't be used for baby sleeps unless actually driving.

Both dd1 & 2 slept in the pram, i have one with a proper carrycot downstairs during the day.

I was given moses baskets for both of them, but only used for 6 weeks (i have big babies), both had to go into cots as they needed more space. As starlight said both wobbled them so much i didn't they would be safe.

My older 2 had a moses basket and hated it, it's only really been used to store toys. I bought a 2nd hand hammock for no 3 which we used in the day time as a travelcot for the first while (until he got big enough to try to sit up) and it was brilliant. DH thought I'd gone mad when I bought it but it was much more cosy than the moses basket. He slept in the cot at night.

Both my DD's sleep/slept in a lie flat pram downstairs during the day and a cot upstairs at night.
I did use a moses basket for the first few days for both but a cot is so much easier, as then they don't have to be lined up exactly upright

Moses baskets are only really handy for the early days when you want them in the room with you when having a bath/ tidying etc but otherwise useless waste of money!

Never used our moses basket! DD absolutely hated it. At night she slept on me for about the first 8 weeks, then in her cot. During the day she slept on me to begin with (very unsettled newborn!) and then later on either on a padded blanket on the floor, in her buggy or in her cot. I was very paranoid about her being sat in any kind of chair for long so we mostly used her bouncy chair for play and then moved her to lie down for sleep. Although her swing was the ONLY way to get her to sleep when she had colic so she did spend quite a few daytime naps in that.
