Can you/have you changed hospitals mid pregnancy ?

To cut a long story short, when I found out I was pregnant I self referred to the same hospital where I have birth with my first two DC, almost automatically without really thinking much through.

However we’ve moved house since having DC so the last couple of appointments I had at the hospital took ages to drive to (40 minutes) and there’s a perfectly fine hospital a 15 minute drive from me which I think makes more sense to be going to for appointments and more importantly for labour and delivery. My question is, has anyone changing hospitals mid pregnancy and is the process straight forward? Will my notes be sent across or will I have to do the whole booking/blood test etc all over again? I’m 10 weeks at the mo. I read online it’s not always a smooth and simple process so interested to hear others experience.

I did it (due to moving house while pregnant). All went smoothly, notes passed over, I didn't need to re-do any appointments or blood tests.

Not sure but I’d like to know too!
Similarly to you I booked at my previous hospital without really thinking. I went with OG hospital last time as it was better situated for appointments on work days but I’m now a SAHM and considering a homebirth which would mean changing hospitals.
I’ve done the booking appointment over the phone but still need to do bloods and 12 week scan. I think I’ll wait till they are out of the way before changing as I’m worried if I change now my new scan date would be later and I want it ASAP Blush

I moved from England to NI in Jan, I was 28 weeks pregnant. It was simple enough I just requested al my notes from the MW in England and gave them to my new maternity unit. They did have to repeat bloods etc again but that was only because they were lost in the lab in England! But aside from that it was a fairly smooth process. X

If you have moved yes. It's pretty normal to move your care to a closer hospital/midwife team when you move.

I had to move midwife team when I moved at 7mth pregnant with our eldest but could keep the same hospital as it was still closer than others.

Where I live most of the notes are now digital so it's very easy for things to be passed over.

I did. I just asked my GP to change for me.
