Kensington Wing: standard room or suite?

I'm due to give birth in May and booking in to the Kensington Wing at Chelsea & Westminster. Just noticed that their suite is not that much more than the standard room, and wondered if anyone had tried either

The website only seems to show photos of the suite, so I'm wondering if anyone has information or pictures of the standard rooms?

Oh darling. I really wouldn't consider less than the suite. But the penthouse is de minimis if we're being honest here.

Gave birth end of December 2020 and we ended up booking the suite for one night and extended for a second one. Given the lack of nursery due to COVID it was very helpful as it gave us more space. The suite was very nice and I recommend it because you have extra space, a nicer finishing and the standard rooms are very very basic and don’t look very nice. The level of service we got was appalling though. I think it was due to covid staff shortages. To give an example the midwives forgot to bring the stem cell kit to the operating room and therefore we couldn’t bank the umbilical cells!!! :( Also at one point I needed emergency painkillers because pain was acute and it took them 35mins to bring the pills. When we complained they said oops sorry we were busy with other patients (kw has 16 rooms and not all were occupied) and it was shift change! As if that’s normal for the amount you are paying. There was also a midwife who came into our room and woke up the baby by talking loudly and told us it is our fault the baby was not sleeping. I started crying since I hadn’t slept for 24 hours and she had just woken up the baby she continued to yell at us. My husband had to stand up and ask to leave the room as she stood there yelling at me while I was crying. The KW apologized and she no longer came to our room. These are just a few examples of how bad our experience was, I have more but again it could have been due to covid and sharing stuff with the NHS.

There’s no way I would pay for a private delivery and then not have an en-suite room afterwards! (I’m so confused by this in fact, I’m wondering if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick)
At my nhs hospital, you can pay £100 just for an en-suite postnatal room - none available when I gave birth, I suspect they all get booked in. Advance by those having elective c-sections!
I’m planning a home birth this time round so I don’t have to share with anyone - I’m not a ‘communal’ person Grin

I have pictures from the standard rooms - happy to send them but I am not sure how to PM here

Yup, sorry, I wrote a message earlier that didn’t post ... about a minute after my first message Blush
I got the last sentence where the suite was being compared to a standard room mixed up as comparing a private room and an en-suite.
