Babyzen yo-yo2 vs bugaboo bee 6

Hi everyone, due my first baby and currently looking at prams. Can’t check any out in person until restrictions lift so hoping to get some advice here in the meantime. I’m looking for a small, lightweight pram that fits with our lifestyle - we live in a flat and so ideally want one that folds down nice and compact, and is generally lightweight. Our flat is ground floor with its own entrance so stairs aren’t a huge issue but generally the lighter the better anyway.

Initially I was sold on the babyzen - I love the look, how it folds and ultimately when life is back to normal we travel/move around a lot. However the one thing really putting me off is that baby can’t be parent-facing after a certain age. This has meant I’m considering the bugaboo bee 6 as an alternative.

To be honest, I don’t love the look of the additional bassinet for either buggy, so would like to stick to just the newborn insert whichever I go for. Anyone had either or both these prams and can give a recommendation? Also if you had the babyzen, how long did your baby stay in the newborn pack?

Thanks so much!

I’ve not had a baby zen, but have had a bee and LOVED it.

I’d happily get one again if I didn’t live in the country and need something a little more robust for country walks.

The baby zen does fold smaller and is lighter, but the bee isn’t big by any means and the bugaboo accessories are amazing.

My vote would be bee!!

This is basically me. I started thinking the Babyzen was the right fit and then I started leaning towards the Bugaboo Bee instead, mostly due to the parent facing element of the 6 month plus.
I actually flipped the other way in the end and got a Babyzen. Overall I preferred the look, it folds smaller and easier and you see so many of them in London where I live.
My friend said 4 out of 10 couples in her NCT class went for a Babyzen and 2 of the others ended up buying a Babyzen once their baby grew out of the newborn stage.

Once they are in the 6 month seat many children love to world-face as it is more interesting for them so a forward facing seat isn't the end of the world.

I would say they are both very similar prams, the Bee can parent face and is slightly bigger/more solid feeling but the Yoyo is lighter and folds up smaller and is easier to fold.

You can't really go wrong with either for a compact city pram.
When are you due? You might still be able to try them out in person before ordering, lots of places do next day delivery so you can leave it to the last minute if you wanted to wait and try them.

I have been looking at these two also....online obviously....and had similar thoughts about the parent facing thing and also the height. I know they are both relatively low in terms of where the carrycot or seat is but I recently saw a yo-yo at the hospital and the carrycot bit looked really low down. Not sure if that can be adjusted but it put me off a bit.

Also the bee has an adjustable handlebar which is good if you will be sharing its use with someone of a very different height. Apparently though the yo-yo is ok for taller people and potentially for shorter ones too but they may have to hold the bar at the sides rather than the top to push comfortably.

We were in the same position I was also torn between these two buggies. We went with the yoyo in the end. I had the chance to try both prams prelockdown and tbh the bugaboo doesn’t fold that small and personally I really don’t like the look of it. Both are lovely to push.
I’m pregnant with my 3rd (due any day) and I’m not worried about the parent facing issue, both my others were keen to be looking around and wanted to be front facing by 6m anyway.

OP , are you me a year ago?!!! I had this exact quandary with the same two buggies! Also live in a flat and pre Covid took buses a lot.

The gist of the story is...I now own both a Yo-yo and a Bee6!

We bought the Yoyo2 initially and loved it for our baby. As a newborn it was light, easy and amazingly compact. We also bought it thinking we would be flying, as it can be taken onto a plane cabin. That was before Covid.

However, our dd turned 6 months and we switched it to push chair mode. She haaaated being world facing!!! It was awful! She cried and I couldn't see her to comfort her- had to keep stopping it to walk round so she could see me. I think she got used to looking at my face as we walked and it was a nasty shock that I wasn't there anymore Sad

So, I forked out and bought the Bee 6. It can be world or parent facing, so I thought we can have her parent facing and then switch it round once she's older / a bit more confident.

So the yo-yo was great for lightness and nimble-ness but the Bee has been better for 6months + for our baby.

The Bee is still pretty compact and stands up when collapsed, but it is more bulky than the yo-yo. The positive of the bee is that it feels more sturdy and the wheels have a bit more grip. On a windy stormy day (we've been walking in all weathers as it's our only activity in lockdown) the bee feels secure whereas the yo-yo tends to go adrift like a dodgy shopping trolley!

We are keeping our yo-yo in case we ever get to go on holiday abroad though.

Hope that helps!

Love my babyzen. Baby stayed in the bassinet ‘til he was 6 months old.

This was me too. Baby is due any day so haven't used yet but all the same feelings as this poster.

For those of you who have had either of these buggies...did you find that either the carrycot or the seat seems quite low to the ground? Or was it high enough to seem ok?

Thank you so much everyone for all your insight/comments. Hoping I can get to a shop to test them out in person in April ish time, but this was really helpful in the meantime xx

@Moon12345 what did you go for in the end OP?

pregnant with second and have babyzen already but bought it when my ds was 1. I feel like 6 months is too little to be world facing’ and the adjustable handle on the bee would be handy as my OH is very tall so when we he’s pushing yoyo he has to walk with the buggy to his side.

thanks if you manage to see this! Bugaboo bee6 for sale on Argos for 400 so tempted to do it but wondering I it’s a waste if I already have yo-yo xx

Hey sorry only just seen this! So I went for the babyzen in the end which I absolutely loved (and still do) but what I didn’t anticipate was having a huge baby who grew out of the newborn pack by about 4 months! So I did end up needing another buggy to bridge the gap before I was ready to have him forward facing which I definitely didn’t feel ready for when he was that young. I borrowed a friends bugaboo but it was a Cameleon and huge - I really couldn’t wait to get back to using the zen which I think I did when he was about 10 months. A friend just had a baby and got the bugaboo dragonfly which is new and looks and sounds like it was what I was after at the time - small, folds up small but has a seat for parent facing too. Only thing is if it’s new it’s probably hard to find in the sale/second hand yet. I would say it’s worth having something before the zen to be honest. Hope that helps and wishing you well for the rest of your pregnancy and birth x
