Pre eclampsia 28 weeks

I went to maternity assessment unit yesterday after reduced movements. Typically when put on the monitor, baby went mad! Earlier in the week at midwife appointment I had high blood pressure between 155/95 -160/105 over 5 readings. Midwife took a manual bp of 140/80 after this. At MAU blood pressure was high of around 170/110. Protein in urine and PCR test came back as 37 ( 30 threshold for pre eclampsia). Was diagnosed with PET and kept in for monitoring. Labetalol brought it down over night and is now around 110/65 which is what It has been early in pregnancy. I had pre eclampsia with first baby at around 39 weeks and was delivered at 40 weeks. Now I've been told average time between diagnosis and delivery is 2 weeks. I'm petrified. Discharged myself ( no judgement please) they wanted to keep me in for a few more monitoring to check bp remained down. But I wanted to see my little boy and gather my things. Now I'm going back on Tuesday for a scan and have been told to assume I'll be admitted until delivery. What can I expect ? I've been told it will only get worse and bp is unlikely to stay down. I'm worried sick for my baby to be potentially born at 30 weeks. Is there a chance I might make it to 37 weeks? I've been told to expect to deliver pre term. Surely if things remain under control there is a chance? Has anyone been diagnosed this early?

Hi @MooreLew best wishes, I feel for you, and understand this situation well. I had very sudden preeclampsia and was delivered at 27+6 ~ I'm currently watching my little one jump around happy as a clam, building towers.

Try and stay calm, and take the advice from your doctors and midwife. As far as I was told the cure for preeclampsia is to deliver the baby, as it's caused by the placenta. You may have to prepare yourself for this, but they will be extremely equipped for this eventuality, and until then will monitor you very carefully. Wishing you and your family all the luck.

I've had it twice too. Put your faith in the amazing medical staff. They know exactly what to do and will only want you to give birth if it's necessary. Rest lots, read lots. They'll give you a steroid injection to help develop your baby's lungs.
Rest assured that soo many babies now are born prematurely and the facilities to look after them are fantastic. Both my pre eclampsia babies were early, one was in special care and so tiny. The care they have is incredible. If you saw her now you'd never know,
Please try not to worry. I'd say more but I've got to check on my Yorkshires!
Unmumsnetty hugs to you

Both of my DC were delivered pre 29 weeks and both came through NICU with no lasting effects. If they're aware you have PE, they'll give steroids to develop your baby's lungs which will help enormously. I would go back tomorrow, not Tuesday. A day can be make or break in PE cases Thanks

Thank you for all your responses and experiences. I'm so glad all of your children are doing well. I've been given a monitor and having been monitoring BP which has been nice and normal. Have felt a little dizzy with a few floaters in my vision, but wondering if this might be down to the labetalol as I only feel dizzy right after taking it. Have a scan and a silver star consultant appointment to discuss further. Have been told that while it's mild theres a chance I can monitor at home. Obviously I realise that this won't get better and if they want to admit me tomorrow I will of course follow their advice. I'm gutted for my little boy as obviously due to covid I will not be able to see him once admitted. At my 20 week scan blood flow to the placenta wasn't great but was borderline. I'm hoping this has improved not got worse. I haven't got much of a bump at all ( stomach is basically flat lying down) baby also isn't a great mover. I'm hoping shes a decent size Confused
