Anyone else experienced debilitating hip pain in the later stages of their pregnancy? Moving about and walking has proved difficult since Wednesday due to the pain in my left hip. Not sure what to do. Paracetamol doesn’t touch it. Will it go away by itself? I took the dog out today thinking some exercise might help but it just made it worse and now I’m essentially bed bound 😬

Hey!
Sorry you're going through it! I'm the same at 34 weeks and getting worse every week.
It sounds like PGP.
It should go away shortly after pregnancy!

The best thing to do is basically do as little as possible.
Unfortunately there isn't much else they can do.

They do offer physio but as you're already 38 weeks, it would be too late ❤️

Yes, and it turned out I'd been in early labour for a few days. It was like bad cramping all around my middle, hips and upper thighs. I don't say this to scare you! I just mean take it easy and call triage if you need to.

Yes I had late onset PGP. Sounds exactly like that. I was hobbling from 37 weeks onwards. I was too far on to get physio from the hospital but I did go to a chiropractor and that helped a lot. Eventually I went for a midwife appointment at 40+5 and she took pity on me and booked me in for an induction. No problems after DS was born. I went back to the chiropractor for a follow up afterwards and she adjusted my spine because I'd been hunched over while BFing.

Yes, I had this, and in my lower back, could barely walk at points, turned out I had damaged my sacroiliac joint/tendons, on the upside as soon as DS was out it was a million times better

I had it quite bad from 20 weeks+. I'm now 12 weeks pp and it literally went the day my daughter was born. For some it takes a little longer but mostly it does go away quite soon.

If you contact the GP they should be able to prescribe you some better painkillers if you need them. You're not far off due date now but it can persists for a while after birth too. You'll get through it.

I had spd/pgp in my last 3 pregnancies and it's already getting quite troublesome with current. I had to take a week off the gym because my hips have been quite painful this week, I'm only 14+5wk and it will just continue to worsen.
I've always managed to plod on with it though even with my huge twin pregnancy, would have loved to relax but hubby dislocated his ankle and broke both bones in his lower leg when I was 26wk with them (12wk in a cast).
