Pregnant and awaiting permanent contract letter.. I need advice

Hi all,
So I started my new job as a key stage leader in September- I have had my 12 week and 20 week review at work and passed they are really pleased with me.
I'm so worried about telling them I'm pregnant as I lead the primary unit which is in a separate building to the high school (about 15 minute drive away) so I'm worried as I lead that unit and if I'm not there I'm scared they're going to replace me as I haven't had my official permanent contract letter in writing yet.
I emailed asking when I'm going to get it and they said in a couple weeks it'll be sent out.
I feel so deceitful as I'm literally waiting for this letter before I tell them I'm pregnant.
Basically I need advice- can they refuse to honour my permanent contract letter as I'm pregnant or fire me?

What have they given you as indication you will be getting permanent placement? Email? Word of mouth?

Is the permanent placement dependent on you passing your 20 week review? So if you pass you get the place? If so do you have that review in writing?

It would be very, very difficult to refuse you your contract without looking like they've done it because of pregnancy. And as it's a school unless private I'm assuming under local council? Far more difficult to do this in public sector than private too.

Also, how far along are you?

They cannot refuse to give you the permanent place because you are pregnant - that would be maternity discrimination, but I would wait to tell them till you have had it. You don’t need to tell your work until you are 25weeks, How far along are you?
But if you are worried I would get in touch with your union, just to be safe

@dingoesatemybaby

I've had an email from HR and also been verbally told by my line manager that I've passed. I'm just waiting for the review to come through in writing which I should get next week. Then just waiting for my official letter from the academy to confirm permanent contract.

Should I email again and ask for it? Just don't want to look too suspicious.
I feel like they can't refuse my permanent contract as I've worked so hard the last 6 months, I've turned their unit around, I've written a curriculum framework and put assessments in place that weren't there before. I even got a letter from the head of the trust thanking me so to reject my permanent contract would be so wrong and I think my union would do something. Just don't want the hassle - just want it all to be ok as I really love this job.

You'll be fine then.

You're only 12 weeks and don't even have to tell them until 25 weeks so you have plenty of time for the contract to arrive.

It's illegal to refuse you the job based on pregnancy and you've had HR confirmation so they can't do it on the sly.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and new job Smile

Yeah don't tell them yet..I assume you're working from home atm too? So no need to worry about risk assessments just yet!

Hopefully it will come through next week after half term!

Then you can tell them around 20 weeks and say you were waiting for the anomaly scan before saying anything (not that you need to justify it!).

Although if you have an email from hr they'd be on dodgy ground rescinding the contract after you tell them you are pregnant!
