Any recommendations for stretch Mark prevention?

Hi all,
I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant, my second pregnancy. The first I was very lucky & didn't get any stretch marks on my tummy, I just used regular moisturiser and sometimes Palmers tummy butter, but this time I want to use something better to prevent/treat them
Does anyone have any recommendations please? X

There is absolutely nothing that will prevent them if you're genetically predisposed. So put your energy towards accepting that they're natural and not something awful like we have been led to believe! X

There are preventions, just stick to your usual moisturising routine.
If you are one of the lucky ones with good skin elasticity then you'll likely avoid them again.

I'm covered in the silvery little blighters.

I found the Palmers did the job in my previous pregnancy. Liberally every night.

Just don't forget tops of thighs/hips and the love-handle area, which is easy to ignore.

I used clarins tonic body oil. I’ve had three dc and don’t have a single stretch mark on my stomach. I do however, have stretch marks on my boobs, where I didn’t use the oil.

I don’t know if that’s down to the oil use or not though. People say stretch marks are more down to your skin type / genetics etc. My mum never had any.

It’s a lovely oil, goes into the skin nicely and has a lovely smell, so you do feel like you’re having a treat. But fairly £££

Nothing you put on the skin will make any difference, stretch marks are formed in the deeper layers of the flesh, stuff rubbed on the outside goes nowhere near. It’s genetics mostly the decide stretch marks.

I didn't get any due to luck but have tonnes of cellulite so swings and roundabouts!

I don't know what prevents them because I never applied anything during pregnancy but afterwards I can say Bio Oil really helped them fade. They were angry and red and now they're lighter pink, fading more and more.

Don't waste your money.

Thank you for all the replies
Maybe I'm just lucky if it's genetic but I do have tendency to get them on my hips and bum area
I found with the palmers butter was so thick and hard to even get it out the tub! I will have a look at the clarins :)
I don't mind spending abit of money on this, I do feel it helps somewhat as I have dry skin anyway x

Third pregnancy and used Palmers for all three and not a single stretch mark so far!

Part of me knows that there’s not much I can do to prevent getting them but I still like knowing I’m looking after my skin :)

My friend gave me an Elemis maternity gift set and the oil is amazing. I have religiously massaged it into bump every day and have hardly any stretch marks now at 37 weeks. But I don't know if that's coincidence or not, I may not have had them anyway? It's a nice bit of pampering though and I enjoy the routine!

HungryHippo20 · 18/02/2021 06:38

Also I meant to say the Elemis refreshing gel that came with the set is AMAZING I get my hubby to rub it on my legs every night and it's magical!! I'm now on my third tube because I love it so much!

If the palmers butter is too thick try the cream that comes out of the squidgy bottle dispenser thing.
