DS is a real mummys boy, we talk about the baby coming and what to expect and he's very excited.. but I think he might struggle with the reality.

What other things could help before baby arrives and also when baby is here?

When my DD came along DS was a lot younger, but we talked lots about the baby and I made sure I kept him massively involved throughout pregnancy and once born. I would ask for his help with the baby and he'd also help me change/feed her which he loved doing. I had a little present lined up for him once DD first came home that was off the 'baby'.

Things will obviously be different and it's completely understandable if he gets upset at first, after all he's had you to himself for 4 years. I just made a effort to always include him as much as possible so he didnt think for one minute he's was being left out of know longer important and I made sure I made time when DD was sleeping or settled where it was purely just 1-1 time.

I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine though Smile

As much one on one time as you can with first born will help with any fears of abandonment they may have. Leave baby with dad and take yourselves away upstairs plan a wee activity or get out for an hour, go pick a special treat together, grab ice cream, take just him to do the weekly shop anything thats quality time just you 2.

and yes as @kittehmoma said dont leave them alone until there is not a ounce of doubt in your mind everything will be ok, have heard absolute horror stories.
