Did you vomit by 7 weeks?

I'm 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I'm so scared of vomiting that I've even been considering abortion as the worry is just affecting my mental health really badly.
Those of you who did physically vomit - did it happen before 7 weeks? I've had a lot of nausea and aversions to smells.

For me it started about 4 weeks, I realised early with both pregnancies as I was being sick all the time. I had definitely already had by 7 weeks, and most people find it gets better by 12 weeks so you are maybe one of the lucky ones.

If it does start go to your GP and be really honest with them as there are medications that can help.

AnaisNun · 15/02/2021 19:37

OP did you post about this a few days ago? If it’s you again lovely, I really would speak to your midwife about how this is impacting you psychologically. Flowers

Floreatfloruit · 15/02/2021 19:37

8 pregnancies. Never sick once.

Basilandparsleyandmint · 15/02/2021 19:38

I have emetaphobia too and I was really worried in the first few weeks of my first pregnancy.
My DS I had no sickness at all but did have a horrible metallic taste for the first weeks so just sucked mints to take taste away and food did taste strange but no vomiting to nausea.
With DD I did feel some nausea and that came on very quickly say from about 5 weeks but was manageable as if I felt empty it was worse so always had food with me.

Try as much as you can to relax - like you I was very tense for first 3 months of my first pregnancy. I watched a lot of tv / film/ read books to relax and kept busy. Eat whatever you feel like be that safe foods for it was pizza / roast chicken dinners and comfort food.
You will get through this and as each week goes by relax a bit more and start to enjoy it and hopefully a lovely pregnancy.

Reading your update, please eat! I felt so much worse when I didnt eat. I sucked on hard boiled sweets constantly, ate snacky things like salty crisps, and I was mad on chicken dippers. Just eating small amounts often can help a lot.

tigerbread20 · 15/02/2021 19:40

With my current pregnancy I've been sick twice. Once at 8.5 weeks and once at 10 weeks.

2 previous pregnancies I had HG and vomited multiple times daily from 4 weeks.

whatdayisitanyway · 15/02/2021 20:33

@Sophcf

Yeah mine came on around 4/5 weeks so fingers crossed you’ve avoided it x
Thank you. I really hope so x

Thank you. I've just got myself into a mess now as I've eaten so little for 3 weeks now when I do eat I feel full quickly which then makes me feel sicker! x

Three children never vomited during any of my pregnancies.

CoffeeRunner · 15/02/2021 20:38

3 pregnancies.

DS1 - 37 weeks of mild nausea, no vomiting.
DS2 - 40 weeks of mild nausea, no vomiting.
DD - 38 weeks of vomiting every single day (including the day she was born). This worked out to be from 1 week post conception to delivery. I lost 2 stones during the pregnancy.

SemperIdem · 15/02/2021 20:40

I was vomiting before I did the test. It was actually why I took it (periods could be erratic at the time), the random vomiting alerted me that I could well be pregnant. I think if you’ve not had any sickness by 7 weeks you’re probably going to avoid it - though you might feel nauseous without being sick.

Wish you the best with your pregnancy.

Suzi888 · 15/02/2021 20:41

Wasn’t sick at all.

CoffeeRunner · 15/02/2021 20:41

Please eat though!! With my DD, I would vomit between 4 & 7am. Then be totally ravenous and stop for McDonald’s breakfast on the way back from the school run!

Whether I ate or not didn’t actually effect the being sick or not.

CoffeeRunner · 15/02/2021 20:41

Affect.

Thank you. It's awful isn't it. It's like living in a constant state of panic. When your nausea started at 5 weeks did it get worse as the weeks went on or stay about the same? That's my worry that it's just going to get worse week by week until it ends in vomiting. It's literally consuming my every thought. My partner and family don't understand (and I don't either) as I really want to get pregnant and now that I am I'm just obsessed with the idea that I can't do it and that I'll have to terminate. I've got a little boy and finding it so hard to give him the attention he needs when I'm feeling this way x

I think considering abortion based on the fear of vomiting is a bit heavy handed- especially when it hasn't actually happened yet. Just hang in there- second trimester you'll feel totally normal, and possibly even into third one too

I was sick twice in one go for pregnancy one. It's uncomfortable but it's not the end of the world, you'll get through the nausea

AegonT · 15/02/2021 20:48

No. Both times terrible all day nausea set in at 6-7 weeks and got worse till 8-9 weeks but I was never sick. I am also terrified of vomiting (emetaphobic). In this pregnancy I took anti-emetic drugs and it helped a little and reduced my anxiety. I didn't take them in my first pregnancy but I was busier as not working from home and went on holiday so I think I didn't have time to dwell on the anxiety. The nausea was much better at 12 weeks and gone at 15-16 weeks. Even as it got worse towards 8-9 weeks I kind of got used to it. Some days I only ate plain home-made chips and ice-pops!

2021WillBeGreat · 15/02/2021 20:53

I am 4 weeks and have been sick for the last couple of days. So I'd agree, hopefully you've avoided it.

supadupapupascupa · 15/02/2021 20:58

2 pregnancies, no vomit. I felt sick ALOT but never so bad I was sick. Car sickness the worst. Don't get hungry! Nibble malted milk biscuits even before you get up out of bed is my advice

Basilandparsleyandmint · 15/02/2021 21:03

No my nausea stayed about the same from 5- 10 weeks and wasn’t constant. It then faded away and I felt really well and nothing bothered me.

Try and take each day at a time, drink plenty and eat what you fancy. Try and distract yourself if the worry sets in and put some music on, tv on, get out the house and go for a walk etc. You can get through this - do speak to your midwife if it gets very bad though. I do think it would have surfaced by now though if you were going to get it Smile

whatdayisitanyway · 16/02/2021 12:34

Thank you everyone. I'm really really hoping it'll just stay as nausea and maybe if I get on top of my anxiety that might help too. I think the fact I've got so much time on my hands due to lockdown doesn't help either. I know considering abortion is quite drastic it's just the headspace I got into and that was the only way out I could see. Thank you all for your advice and reassurance x

Milkand2sugarsplease · 16/02/2021 14:35

Hopefully the nausea will start to subside over the next few weeks as the placenta takes over. I felt grim up to 10 weeks but didn't actually vomit (emetophobe here too) and then it started to ease after that, as in, the length of time I felt grim in a day started to shorten and by 12 weeks I was generally feeling ok.
Hopefully if you've not been sick by 7 weeks you're gonna be ok as it "should" be peaking about now though no ones pregnancy comes direct from a textbook.
Keep snacking and don't let your blood sugar drop too low and take it a day at a time.x

whatdayisitanyway · 16/02/2021 19:07

Thanks everyone x
