Hi

What’s the best bottle brush to get for these bottles in your opinion, or does it matter. Sorry ftm! Smile

It doesn't really matter tbh, because the bottom unscrews so you can even use a standard washing up brush.

Best practice would probably be to take them apart completely and wash and dry each part, but I confess we rarely did this by the time DD got to about 3 months old.

Yes id it's the type that has a removable bottom any brush or sponge is fine, better in fact.

Great thank you, I seen there was a MAM silicone brush so wasn’t sure if that was the one to get or not :) thank you.

With your MAM bottles do you tend sterilise then individually or all together ? On another thread I said how my microwave may be too small for a steriliser and others had suggested the cold water steriliser but I have now purchased 5x 160ml mam bottles (is that enough to get me started I know I’ll need to get the bigger ones as he grows) I’m wondering is it more likely I’ll use the self sterilising function of these bottles? I’m guessing I’ll still need a steriliser for other bits and bobs I’ll probably just get the Milton cold water.

I have had the mam brush and it keeps better for longer than others

Babyontheway21 · 15/02/2021 10:29

Oh and do I need a teat brush ?

Most brushes have a teat bit on the other end, the mam one does

Frogartist · 15/02/2021 10:55

If you have a microwave you could just sterilise one bottle at a time. No need to get a sterliser for these bottles :)

I bought the mam one :)

There is a mam one but I dont like it. I use just a normal bristle bottle brush and use my little finger to clean inside the teat, or you could turn the teat inside out.

If you have the counter space and can find a cheap electric steriliser I would get one. Yes you can sterilise the MAM ones as you go, but it adds a few minutes on to the bottle prep (and who needs that with a crying baby?) and you have to allow them to cool before use as they come out BOILING. Their self-sterilising function is great for visiting or on going holidays but I wouldn't rely on it for normal daily use at home.

The good thing about a standard electric one is that you wash all the bottles in one go, put them in the steriliser and run it. If you keep the lid on the bottles stay ready to use for, I think, 24 hours. Amazon have a Tommee Tippee one for £29 which is only slightly more expensive than a microwave steriliser.

Babyontheway21 · 15/02/2021 15:04

So if there is 4 bottles in the steriliser and I open the lid to take one out does that make the other 3 unsterilised again?
Sorry if that’s a really stupid question Confused

If you get a cold water steriliser the soloution is sterile for 24 hours and you can add to or remove from it as you need
